Maximum order quantity
 

Is there a way to restrict qty order for a product.
Example maximum Qty of product order allowed 6.

I think you can edit it in the admin page. Catalog - Products area.
In prices & inventory you can actually put a Quantity in Stock.

Thanks. My question is not inventory related.
Let me clarify
Can a customer order a product, limited Qty maximum of 6.
ie customer can order qty from 1 to 6 but no more than 6.

There is no stock option in cart for this. I started a module on this functionality however it is on hold right now. If I ever get the time to finish it....

Wow it's been so long... No I did not. I have somewhat finished one for 5.3.x but not moved to 5.4.x. I don't remember exactly what it was but there was some issue with other modules like Sale and Wholesale getting in the way. I may go back to this and try to figure it out but for now it is still on hold.

It has been a while you posted the question, but do you still need this?
If yes, do you have many products for which you want to limit the quantity?
If yes again, does the limit change according to product? That is, 6 max for product X, 10 for Y, 12 for Z, etc... Or you simply have the same limit for all these products?


According to the answers, there might be a "dirty solution" with javascript (although, I think it is better to write a module).

This can be modified for your purposes if you only want to limit few products
