"File Attachments" module for X-Cart 5 / LiteCommerce 3

Hi,

We are going to develop free "File Attachments" module for LiteCommerce 3 / X-Cart 5 and need your feedback. What is special with this topic is that we want your feedback before we start the actual development work: http://on.fb.me/ncL0fT. You can post your ideas and suggestions as comments to the Facebook page.

As far as I know, we never practiced this before and I'm not sure whether this will work out, or not. But we would like to give it a try.

If you have any ideas on how this process can be organized better please let us know.

Thank you in advance!

If we are talking about a customer being able to attach something like an image to an order then here goes.

My ideas

Admin should be able to define when and where the file attachment occurs.

For example if a customer is buying 3 sizes of shirt for a printed logo, he does not want to upload 3 times. PIA. Ideal solution would be uploading at or just before checkout

You could have a possibilty of the customer managing his own attachments and being able to select his prefered image on the product page that he has previously uploaded. Of course upload should be available from product description page also. Again PIA for the shirt example but ideal for a printed mug.

Any uploaded images should show a link or thumb in order details on invoice and in cart.

It should be possible to define which products have the possibility of uploads.

Thank you for the ideas! I've copied them to ideas.litecommerce.com becuase this is another feature, not the "File Attachments" module. If the module name misleads we would appreciate any better ideas on naming it.

"File Attachments" module enables Admin to attach product files which can be downloaded by customers in the store front. The module will be used by e-Goods that will extend the functionality and prevent selected attached files from being downloaded until a customer purchases the product.

Consider file attachment per variant/option not per product so if variants/options exist they can have different files attached

:D

When I started learning English many years ago I was asked by a guy from Sweden: "where is "Jenny Doe"?"
I said: "She's gone" meaning that Jenny left the building.
The guy who asked me looked quite shocked after that :))

Yes, it will be the next step after developing Product Variants module with inventory tracking per variant.
