Upgrading X Payments

It seems QT doesn't offer an upgrade patch for XP. So whats the best way to upgrade? Fresh install?

I'm wanting to upgrade from 1.0.4 to 1.0.5. Setting up 1.0.4 was a head ache for me, hopefully 1.0.5 goes better.

Be careful there - if you run the install the database will be overwritten with an empty one (at least that's how it was before).
Yes QT should offer an upgrade script for X-Payments as well

Re: Upgrading X Payments

I really don't mind starting from scratch with 1.0.5. Maybe thats the way to go. I could always manually add the data from the 1.0.4 database.

Does anybody know if the 1.0.5 database structure is different then 1.0.4?

Is a manual install 1.0.5 the best thing to do here? Could I install xpayments on my xcart server then copy the files over to my xpayments server?

Re: Upgrading X Payments

I attemped to install 1.0.5 today. Seriuosly fed up with xpayments!! I just don't get what the problem is with this program.

When I call the install script I get a 403 forbidden error. As far as I know I have all the permissions set correctly. But, being as frustrated as I am - I'm almost certian that I have missed something simple.

I followed the upgrade direction to the letter twice, and I can not get payment 1.0.5 to work. Any one else having this issue.

Re: Upgrading X Payments

Sounds like a scary upgrade. I plan to try installing 1.05 in a different directory with a different database and have 1.04 and 1.05 running at the same time. I hope this is allowed. When 1.05 is running ok, I'll move sites over to it.

But before I try that I'm going to do a test 4.5.2 site and see what happens with my Ability template. One step at a time here.

pcarcare, Duramax 6.6L:

You may find the upgrade instructions in the help portal: http://help.x-cart.com/index.php?title=X-Payments:Upgrading

If you get errors like 403 Forbidden, please make sure that the permissions to the uploaded files are set correctly, including the <xp-dir>/.htaccess file.

This is an interesting topic. I reviewed the upgrade guide linked above and I'm stunned. Many of us have voiced our opinions over the years of the X-Cart upgrade procedure and now we have the new X-Payments where upgrading seems to be an afterthought best left to the experts. Please, for future products, consider the upgrade process a vital function that should operate simply and smoothly.

Cherie, we do listen to our merchants. However, it takes some time to implement such changes like easy upgrade. (Yes, something that looks easy can be very complex inside).

I want to note that upgrade of X-Payments is much easier than upgrade of X-Cart. As a matter of fact - it is just overwriting of files. Full instructions are here.

As for our future X-Cart platform - X-Cart Next (earlier known as LiteCommerce3) - upgrading it even easier than X-Payment's one - it is a matter of several clicks in the admin back-end.
