all the distribution files now seem to be in the file area, but the actual distribution kit for 4.2 is locked and cannot be downloaded.

Re: X-Cart 4.2 beta testing

when upgrading i dont want to mess with the live store, can anyone advise the best method to get from 4.1x - 4.2x when released without affecting my live store?

i want the customers login and orders history on the 4.2 version, would the best way to create new 4.2 and import everything? will customer login still work this way?

http://localhost/xcart/skin1/images/icon_warning_small.gifYour browser doesn't accept cookies. Cookies are required to use this site.
Please enable cookies and press the continue button Continue http://localhost/xcart/skin1/images/go.gif

This is the message I got in IE7 and 8 + Firefox 3. In Opera, Safari, Google Chrome, it doesn't say anything.

As I checked the cookies are enable in all browsers. How shall I skip this issue? I would like to continue using Firefox and IE.

This is happening also in final 4.2.0 version. I am using it on my localhost.

It is because of the 4.3.1 requirement of RFC 2109

Just move the test store to "http://127.0.0.1/" from "http://localhost/". Or add another domain name containing a dot to your "local" DNS and install the test store here.

Re: X-Cart 4.2 beta testing

I tried also http://127.0.0.1/ but not working. After accessing the address link is changing to http://localhost/.

I commented also in hosts file (I have a Windows XP OS) localhost name and the issue still there.

Any other idea?

Re: X-Cart 4.2 beta testing

am2003,
I have had the same problem.
I changed the entry in the config.php for $xcart_http_host ="localhost" &
$xcart_https_host ="localhost" to 127.0.0.1. This seems to fix the problem and while I don't know the wider implications of the change, if any, it works well enough for an Offline WAMP server.

# http://www.yourhost.com/
# https://www.yourhost.com/
#
$xcart_http_host ="127.0.0.1";
$xcart_https_host ="127.0.0.1";

Regards, Jr.

Its because Qualiteam is ignoring how writing cookies works and is always trying to specify a domain name while writing a cookie even when its not correct to do so. Just leave the domain name off when writing the cookie and it defaults to the current domain. That works even for localhost. It looks like you are still pathing the cookie to the root as well so multiple test versions (or even live stores) under the same domain but different directories share cookies. I reported both of these problems during the beta and its sad to see they were not fixed.
