Re: X-Cart 5.2.4: ShippingCalc by AuctionInc, Translation Module creator etc

I have some observations as I prepare to move to this version.

- When in the single-column layout, there is no apparent option to have for example "recently viewed products" in the centre column. Other menu items could also be affected.

- If you have only a 1-5 products in a category, and you have product adviser module set to display the products in the centre column, you could be presented with the same products up to 5 times in the same page. Under new arrivals/coming soon, featured, bestselling and the actual product listings. There could be an option to display in the homepage only, or whether to repeat a product being displayed more than once in one main column of a page.

- In the product page, when you hover a product image, the magnify area appears to not be defined correctly. The positioning could be improved, and the size of the magnify area is the same or smaller than the product image, therefore its difficult to see a large image in such a small area.
It would make more sense to take up a larger area and be aligned to the top of the product title across this div element.

- When I changed the products per page option from 9 to a higher value, it still displayed only 9 products per page in the category listing.

- When you hover a coming soon product, or in the text area below the title, it could display the date it will arrive as this data is on the product page, instead of "coming soon" which could be 5 months away.

- I would move the weight and SKU from the top of the description to the Specs tab which is almost empty and how important is the weight and SKU when you first go to the product description?

- Admin setting has define logo and favicon, but improvement can be to add apple touch icon, for when user bookmarks page in tablet/phone for example, or on the mac.

- I would like to see more visible when the customer is going to receive the product. This information can be definable by shipping option and displayed in the product area and checkout. If I have a 1-day express option set globally or for certain products and a local time limit for the day, this product page should display, you can get the product tomorrow if you order in this time and are from this location. The cart would have worked out that information from the user. This will lead to the customer having more confidence when they will get their order and more urgency when to place the order, especially if there is a low-stock-level warning. Only 2 left in stock - order soon.

With these improvements, I think it can further enhance the experience for customers, merchants and x-cart.

Reported it to the team.

Could you please report this suggestion to our ideas.x-cart.com tracker?

Could you please explain this point in more detail if possible? Right now, I am not quite sure about how we should change our magnifier.

That is odd as it works fine on my local installation. Could you please let me know where I can see this problem?

Please put it into ideas.x-cart.com as well.

This change can be applied with a simple mod. Please create a new thread about this change and I will help you with it.

Please register an idea for it as well.

This also needs to be registered as an idea at ideas.x-cart.com

Re: X-Cart 5.2.4: ShippingCalc by AuctionInc, Translation Module creator etc

Am I missing something here? The webmaster kit module no longer pops up with templates/classes used for elements. Looks like the behavior is different from 5.1.x. How can I found which tpl/classes are used for an element in 5.2.x?

I guess you have 'Mark templates:' selected in the module settings?

Can you see a floating box in the top right with 'Enable Tracing' that you can click?

The module doesn't work in 5.2.x as it does in 5.1.x. At least not for me. Let's see if delete/re-install will help.

Ok apparently latest 5.2.x uses now "webmaster mode" from Look and Feel settings and it is only for the store front.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for asking. What you are looking for is the Webmaster Kit module, which is still part of X-Cart 5. You can find it in the list of Installed Modules or in Marketplace. What you actually found is Webmaster Mode functionality, which is a part of ThemeTweaker module.

Agree, names are easily to confuse, but hopefully the situation is clear to you now.

Tony

Re: X-Cart 5.2.4: ShippingCalc by AuctionInc, Translation Module creator etc

I know about both. But the Webmaster Kit module in 5.1.x pops up the info with templates/classes used on hover. In 5.2.x or at least in the 5.2.4 I am using it does not do this. There is no popup on hover, there is no "enable/disable" button at the top right corner, there is some list of templates printed at the very bottom of the page after everything else with times to output, etc but it is not like it was in 5.1.x

The Webmaster Mode while not poping up anything at least shows the template/class used to output an element.

So all this changed with 5.2.x?

Hello Steve,

Are you sure that you have ticked on the 'Mark templates' in the module settings? Webmaster Kit module works as previously to me:

Please, let me know.
