GET YOUR SITE OPTIMISED WITH CDSEO LINKS

CUSTOM DYNAMIC SEO LINKS by WebsiteCM.com

WebsiteCM's blurb about this item:
Quote:

Custom Dynamic Search Engine Optimized Links for X-Cart is the ultimate search engine optimized link solution for x-cart, allowing you complete control over your product and category urls by allowing you to manually type the urls you want into textboxes on the product/category add/modify page. Additionally it provides sub-folders for increased keyword density, title tags and more.

I was offered the chance to try this puppy out the other day and I thought I'd give it a go, couldn't hurt.

Jon's always producing fantastic mods so expectations were high and this is no exception.

It's a cinch to install, easily configurable and works in no time.

I have purchased other SEO mods but this one is SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANYBODY ELSE'S :)

This mod transforms your URLS into very very search engine friendly ones like this:

(say for example you have a site that sells, amongst other things, widgets and in particular, a widget called Fireball3000 which is the world's most sought after widget)

Your normal url might look like this:
www.widgetworld.com/home.php?productid=758
Your usual modification gives you a URL like this:
www.widgetworld.com/fireball3000-pr-56.html
With this mod you get:
www.widgetworld.com/widgets/fireball-3000.html

So, if you are a search engine looking for the most relevant URLs from which to index content about FireBall 3000 widgets, naturally you'd rank the last one as more relevant because it's set up to tell you exactly what you're looking at.

This is why I would say if you are in the market for some cost effective, inexpensive SEO tools for your site and increase your traffic and sales into your site (who isn't?), BUY THIS MOD.

Yes I recently came across this. And i am deciding between
safteynetwebs DFSU or this.

But I cant really see this helping much if any in the search engines. URL might play a small part -- but the very small difference in he customized URL in this mod versus the standard URL rewrite is very little.
My thought would be that small difference vs. the standard rewritten URL is so insignificant it would be a waste of your time to go into each producty... and specify an unique URL.

I would be curious to hear some SEO gurus thoughts on this.

Also perhaps Jon can offer some assisatnce on the following:
--------------------------------------
Does this mod rewrite x-cart static page URLs?

Does this mod work with rewritten URLS to froogle output?

Does this extra control of URLS hurt site performance at all compared to standard rewrite(due to the extra checks to see if a unique URL is specified)?

I would really like to see this mod a a couple of sites, just to make sure there are no bugs...

I am not suggesting it wont help alot compared to not having any mod at all.

What I am saying that there really wont be a difference compared to the standard URL rewrite such as safetynetwebs DFSU.

Point 2 about the froogle feeds creation is always my concern with these mods (I know DSEFU can do it with some modifications).

To make it a killer mod it really needs to include feed generation including in with it - we use a modified verson of the default froogle feed generator to output product feeds for froogle and for the various affiliate networks and product comparison sites that we are on , so there is no point in us using a mod like this unless feed creation can be changed because of duplicate content penalties.

So before I would buy it would have to be either
A) version 2 which includes froogle feed generation
B) have froogle feed generation as an add on

If you look at the comparison chart on the product details page there are many ways this mod is an improvement over the standard html format.

It does not use mod-rewrite.

It is less server intensive than mod-rewrite and is equivalent with your standard PHP pages - it adds only one query per page.

We have not yet modified it to support froogle but as I am confident it would be very easy to do, we'd be happy to work with you to make it compatible free of charge.

You can see the mod functioning on WebsiteCM.com.

We are also happy to provide a license for a test store of yours to test with.

Hi Jon,
Will we be able to use this on the upcoming 4.1.0 version? If so I will be buying it tomorrow.

Thanks

youngvet1 03-26-2006 02:29 PM

Hi Jon could you speak a little more about the performace enhancement of this versus the URL reqrite that uses mod rewrite. Do you think this will be a noticeable diffference speed wise?

Jon 03-26-2006 07:54 PM

When 4.1.0 is released we will ensure compatibility.

The speed increase would be the difference in using mod-rewrite and not using mod-rewrite.

Megamuch 03-27-2006 04:59 AM

No offence, but mod_rewrite is NOT a big performance drag.

You'd be better off trying to increase the speed of the SQL used in x-cart.
