As I said, we greatly changed our implementation - both template files and logic in the php files. What we did is not what you need to know. It will work "out of the box", but only with a goodly amount of fiddling. Sorry I can't be of more help. My point here is this is not really a Reboot problem.

There is a fix for the Mailchimp newsletter subscription form in the template footer, which I have attached. (skin/reboot/custom/footer/footer_NS.tpl)

Thanks. I exchanged the files but it doesn't work. Also when I disable the active news list signups from news management. The mailchimp module also breaks the news part on the reboot homepage. Disappears completely. Also captcha would not be needed when mailchimp module active as there is another catpcha from mailchimp itself.

I've found that the breadcrumbs - also on your demos - are getting shifted and are not displayed correctly when resizing. Text shows below each other

Designguru, I know your reboot theme is extensively modified, so you might want to double check your code. Or contact me showing exactly where the problem lies.

A simple effective alternative, is to load the MailChimp subscription form in a lightbox...

Go to your MailChimp Admin > Lists > Your List > Signup Forms > General Forms

You should get a Signup form URL like this...


You can then create a MailChimp signup lightbox button with code like this... (adjust width and height to your liking)


That's intentional, to make the breadcrumbs responsive on small screens.

On homepage the news module etc has not been touched. Signup form only uses built in lists instead of mailchimp.
But will try all your suggestions. Not sure if lightbox good for mobile devices.

I posted on another forum that some mobile devices cannot check out using the combination of PayPal Advanced, X-Cart 4.6.3, and reBOOT.

PayPal support does not think the problem originates with them. Please see the other posting and let me know if you have insight on how to approach this problem.

It is a bummer that I got reBOOT because it would be mobile friendly and now some mobile customers cannot check out.

We are using the X-Cart OPC with PayPal Payments Advanced. All is normal up to where the checkout popup comes up. Desktop checkouts are ok, of course. We tested on the only two phones we had here that day, and PayPal says they saw no problems with the Samsung Galaxy S5. I don't know enough about mobile devices to even begin to guess why scrolling behaves differently.

I edited and left the iframe height at 900px and width at 700px(?), and that allows the Samsung S3 to checkout using Chrome, Firefox, and Dolphin phone apps when held horizontally. The extra width was not needed, just more height. I still could not scroll horizontally.

With the iPhone 4 I could not check out at all with the new window size. If there is no error message, I could enter a CC number, but nothing else. With the iPhone 4 I could scroll horizontally, but not vertically.

I tried to check the stylesheet using Firebug, but it leads me to a cached version, and when I download that cached version and search for the 'scroll 0 0' Firebug reported, it's not there. Again, I don't know enough to know if I'm doing this right.

EDIT: FYI, we also have OPC and PayPal Payments Advanced on an X-Cart 4.5.3 site and Ability template. Trying to check out there with our mobile devices does not work at all, but it's not a mobile friendly setup, which is why I want to move all our stores to reBOOT.

Buying mods, templates and even creating more new mods and stuff is great and one thing, but what to do when there's no time left to get support in a reasonable time of period for bought products?

I point this out because I noticed that many develop new items and mods but then it's really hard/time consuming to finish a project because of support.

I really like the products and Phil has really helped a lot but how can I finish a project when the original programmer has not really time left to clarify or support purchased items? Many things could have been settled within days but then take many weeks. This post is meant as feedback from someone who really likes your products but simply want to point out an important matter.

I've been updating reBOOT to be leaner, faster, more SEO friendly

v3 will be released soon, compatible with X-Cart 4.6.4.

In terms of layout, there's a lot more you can do with it, you can even go large (full wide screen layout) yet still remain responsive throughout.

Header category menus have been revamped, you can now combine mega menus with dropdown menus.

Hi Phil !

I've been checking the demo a couple of times per day and I'm very impressed with what I'm seeing.

The YSlow score is amazing and Desktop Google Pagespeed is very good.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the "mobile" thin header and was wondering if a "mobile" thin footer for the Social Media, Cart, and Back to Top might be an option.

The new reBOOT Widgets are VERY cool!

Please consider having an upgrade fee or at least a PayPal donation button. You've put too many hours of thought, research and work into this and you already gave v2.0 as a free upgrade. Just my 2 cents :-)

After adding Facebook Id at reboot template settings & enabling Facebook at footer section,Facebook is not showing at footer in our store front.It shows some error "Please enter your Facebook ID in the template settings". Please tell me how can i resolve this problem?

We are pleased to announce that reBOOT v3 is now available! (X-Cart v4.6.4)

It has been re-worked over the past few months, optimised for speed / SEO, achieving higher results in YSlow, Google Page Speed, GTmetrix etc.

Many of the main features have been updated, such as the layout options, category menus and the ajax minicart.

The layout can now go full-width, which may please those with large wide screens, or who previously wanted to be able to disable the 'responsiveness' for desktops.

The new responsive menu is particularly good, with nine menu choices, lots of settings and the ability to combine 'mega' menus with 'dropdown' menus.

I went to github.com to get v3.0 and found a new downloadable zip 13 hours old, so I assumed that was it. On opening, the version file says it is 2.33. Is it really 3.0?

Phil has said it's for 4.6.4... For reBOOT v2, I went from 4.4.5 to 4.6.1 and it was my most difficult upgrade but well worth it. Had to upgrade from 4.6.1 to 4.6.4 for reBOOT v3 on my dev site and it was a snap. Good Luck! ...

reBOOT v3 product image aspect ratio issue
 

I have two v3 sites running, plus a dev site, and all have the following issue. Settings on the dev site were exaggerated a bit for emphasis.

Basic product images are not keeping their aspect ratios under certain conditions.

I changed the images from a new X-Cart installation to be round footballs (soccer balls) to emphasize aspect ratio.

On the homepage, thumbnail images are sized as they should be. Ignore that some say jpg, gif, or png, as I was also testing to see if image format came into play. It does not.

Image sizes in X-Cart admin are set to be 450px max width, 800px max height. The uploaded images are 600px square. The reBOOT image box for the area seems to be about 340px. These are the dev site exaggerated settings. So my working sites don't look so distorted, I changed the max image width to be 340px.

For a basic product (Anna Karenina), the image is stretched vertically. If the image was entered as a detail image or a variant image, there is no stretching, and the image is resized properly. If I switch the template to be the X-Cart Ideal Responsive template, there is no stretching in any instance.

This is what I've done on my site. You can play around between 8/4 or 7/5 or 6/6 to see what works for you.

Send me a PM when you've switched back to reBOOT v3 if Phil has not gotten back to you and I'll take a look a the CSS you're using for the aspect ratio on your images.

In my I have found two issues-
1) I have installed X-Cart_Reboot_Homepage_Subscribe_Popup in my 4.6.1 Platinum with reboot and it is not working.When I enter any email id it is always saying No email address!
2)Also in live site of product details page.At the bottom of the page If I click any tab it is showing http://www.yourstore.com/#product_tabs1 or http://www.yourstore.com/#product_tabs2 but if we refresh the page it is going to home page instated of that details page why this is happening?I have enabled clean url.Without clean url it is working fine.

What is the issue here?

1) You may have some code errors, check the console using Firebug. Maybe try reinstalling the addon.

2) Check the v2 FAQ - "When I click on a product tab or accordion, the page slug disappears, why?"
