Xcart mods Adapt or Ability!?
 

Hi all,

Just a simple question really, were looking at using the Xcartmods templates for a new project but can't decide between ability or adapt templates?

It's going on a 4.5.4 gold install of x-cart.

Which one is newer and dare I say it better?

Were looking for a 2/3 column fixed layout most likely

any ideas?

Hi obaluba2, both templates have similar functionality, but a big difference is that Adapt (the newer of the two) is "responsive", meaning that the layout adjusts to the screen width, making it display well in most devices from mobile - tablet - desktop. Adapt only supports 2 columns.

If you're going for 2/3 column fixed layout, then Ability is probably your best bet.

I had Ability, but as soon as Adapt came out I switched, the repsonsive design is nice and that's where the future is going, mobiles/tablets for purchasing etc. I felt as though Adapt was more modern and eye pleasing than ability (due to limited coding skills etc). Both very good templates though, I just prefer Adapt. ;)

I use Phil's Ability template and it's perfect for my niche. I'm working with X-CART's Mobile template since Ability is not responsive. Please feel free to send me a PM and I'll send you my URL.

Both Adapt and Ability are fantastic templates and you can't go wrong with either one. Phil has really done an amazing job with each of them. Your decision will most likely come down to, do you want a responsive template (Adapt) or do you want a separate mobile template (Ability). Either way, Phil's got you covered!
