Customizing the Cloud version
 

I am setting up a new store in X-Cart 5 Cloud. I find that most of the posts here about how to customize assume that the user is using the downloaded version and has access to all the files.

Do I understand right that as a cloud user I can only do CSS and JavaScript customizations, no PHP? Is there a way to translate advice from downloaded to cloud? Shouldn't there be a sub-forum just for cloud users. The product page calls the cloud version 100% customizable. I feel like I am missing something basic.

Perhaps I should switch to the downloaded version now rather than keep bumping my head up against cloud version limitations.?

Hi tls!

You are right, X-Cart Cloud does not allow you access the code directly. The way you can change X-Cart Cloud functionality is to order paid customization.

If you want to apply bunch of your own custom mods to your store, downloadable solution is right for you. X-Cart Cloud is for merchants who want a store right now and who are not going to apply the changes themselves.

A small note: you can do small tweaks to CSS and JavaScript in X-Cart 5 Cloud. The Theme Tweaker module is the way to go.
