Setting Up Firetank FeedManager Cron Jobs

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea on how to set up cron jobs for the Feed Manager from Firetank? I thought I saw some information about this before but had no luck finding it.

I would like to download the Google Base since I can't seem to get it to upload by ftp on my account. I also would like to set up some of the other feeds automatically and save a copy to the server. Is it possible?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

It depends on the server you are on. All the Feed Manager can do is create auto urls - either to download them to your PC or email or to ftp automatically.
The cron job is setup on your server, possibly through your cpanel - typically you just look for Cron Jobs and go from there.
Of course if you can get it to ftp up with a cron job - then you don't have to do anything at all again!

Thanks, Paul. I guess the question is how do you set it so it's ftp'd to Google automatically?

I figured out the line of code with the help of Emerson of EWDHosting.com (thanks!)

The key is generated when the automatic url is created inside the FeedManager, correct?

Thanks again,

Vera

Hi, would you mind sharing the cron job line? I just emailed emerson too, but in case you get here first or others are looking it would be great to have it here.

Also, I couldn't get mine to automatically ftp to google either, even tried working with google but they were useless. What I did is generated the autourl in the firetank mod, then eventually the cron job (once it's working) will upload the new feed to my server, then I set up on the google site the data feed schedule to upload from my site however often I want.

Thanks and good luck!
Andrea

Well it's certainly worth persevering to get the ftp upload straight to Google working - saves a lot of hassle in the long run.
First thing to do is to see where the problem lies - if you connect to the Google server by a normal ftp program, can you upload your file manually once you have got it out of Feed Manager?

I got my cron to work fine, it was actually already working, cpanel just wasn't sending me the email notification for some reason. Here's the cron job if anyone needs it. But mind you, you still have to have google pick it up off your server by doing it this way.
