Clean URL for 5.1.9?

Hi Guys,

Anyone know if there are clean url's for 5.1.9? I can't find any settings for this and am surprised it's not in X-cart 5.1

Thanks,

Carrie

5.1.x had Clean URLs for sure. Did you check the Environment page in the back end? As far as I remember the switch was there.

Yes I did check there. The setting isn't there that I see in the help section in the KB website.

thanks,

I've installed the 5.1.11 version, and it is on the Environment page.

Thanks. I guess what was confusing is there is no button to turn it on. I see now in the documentation that you have to enable mod_rewrite in apache. Can that be done in htaccess like other rewrite mods or does it have to be done in the apache config?

Thanks,

Carrie

I believe .htaccess will be enough

So how do you turn it back off?? Once you turn it on there's no button to turn it back off. Also it doesn't seem that the instructions are complete as the URL's are now SEO friendly but they don't work. They all go to the home page.

So I turned it off via the Database, however the URL's changed to clean ones when it was one but the links all took you to the home page. Is there something that needs to be in the htaccess to get the URL's to go to the categories and products?

Thanks

Carrie

Re: Clean URL for 5.1.9?

Unfortunately, this is a drawback of the 5.1 version - you can only enable Clean URLs without the ability to disable them later.

It was fixed in the 5.2 version.

By the way, why do you work with the 5.1 version? It is a very old one!

It's what this client is on and they can't upgrade right now.

So what are the full instructions to enable clean url's then? They showed up but every url showed the home page.

Thanks,

Carrie

Re: Clean URL for 5.1.9?

Do you see any records in xc_clean_urls? Perhaps these link to removed entities, and this causes the issue.

If this is the problem I think removing everything from the database table should fix it. However, I'm not sure 100%, so please create a full backup before altering anything in the database
