X-Cart Admin mobile application

Hi All.

We are glad to introduce a new product: X-Cart Mobile admin.

We are developing this application in cooperation with our technology partner ITCloudLab (St Petersburg Russia). At the moment we have Android application only. iOS version will be released in Jan 2014. As for X-Cart versions compatibility, at the moment v4.6.x is supported, connectors for older branches ( up to v 4.3.X later) will be released later.

At the current stage of the development, we would like to get the first customersâ–“ feedback about performance and stability of the app on a large set of Android phones.

So if you are in the boat, download and install the app from http://mobileadmin.x-cart.com/apks/
OR
scan this QR codehttp://mobileadmin.x-cart.com/latest.png
(In some cases you should enable Installation of applicatons from nonMarket sources.) The application is preconfigured to connect with this demo store: http://mobileadmin.x-cart.com/xcart

If you want to test the app on your own store please PM me. I will share the connector installation files and necessary instructions.

Besides your feedback about performance, we would like to know your thoughts, what else X-Cart admin functionality would be most important to have in the app? We are planning to develop the application according to community requests and feedbacks.

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

This is great news. It looks really good. Of course I run it and played with it for a while

1. settings - it has few options for "pack size" which I assume it means how many XX to see in a list - the term "pack size" is confusing
2. maybe all screens need to have "go back" link - maybe at the top left corner; I know there is the device back button but still....
3. customer page - I like the "message/call" functionality there but maybe the app can detect it is being used on a tablet and not show the call button?
4. product page - I see only price can be edited for the moment; it would be nice if the image of product can be change and taken by the device cam

Are emails send out when order status is changed or order tracking number is modified?

I really like it and the clean look of it. In my opinion you should not try to include everything in the mobile admin but just enough to get the picture of what is going on with the store. Keep it nice, clean and with the major info showing.

So far great job!

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

Looks fantastic, congratulations.

Apologies I don't have access to an android device so I'm not sure if this feature is included or not.

Can we have the option for custom user types?

Ideally there would be at a minimum 2 users,

Users with full access
Users with read only access

read only would be great for those who wish to check sales on the go - but can avoid the common accidental edits on a touch screen device.

Ideally it would replicate user based restrictions which are on the store - but this may be for a future update.

One other suggestion for a feature would be for a 'quarantine' type option where any edits conducted on a mobile phone (specifically delete) whilst appear to occur in real time on the site, but are kept in a 'quarantine' section for 48 hours.

ie I delete a product on the site via the app and it no longer appears on the site, but is not removed permanently for 24/48 hours as a precaution in case of accidental edits, or in worst case a misplaced / lost device.

This would provide sufficient time to revert changes if necessary

Looks fantastic and will you consider to also develop a Windows Phone version?

now to go find a cheap android device to test this with.

Some good ideas there ...

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

One other suggestion.

Please have a sales screen with the following simple information,

Sales for the day $1,000.00
Sales for the week $2,000.00
Sales for the month $3,000.00

and depending on space

Top X orders (based on value)
Top X sold products

A 1 screen simple summary would be brilliant.

Could also be:
Sales for the day $1,000.00 Yesterday: $900.00
Sales for the week $2,000.00 Last Week: $1,900.00
Sales for the month $3,000.00 Last Month: $2,900.00

I have had several merchants ask for this comparison in existing X-cart dashboard.

The Back button will be implemented in the next app build.

The feature "Add product images from the device camera or gallery" is one of the planned features.

Yes. All notifications go to recipients the same as if the admin has changed the status from the web backend.

Actually we are planning to release read-only version of app as free edition, and paid version with full access. We will carefully think about it.
We will definitely add multistore mode when admin can control several X-Cart stores from one app.

We are very careful planning and work with "edit" features. The app doesn't allow to delete any information from the store.
If you want to "delete" product from a store you can just disable it. The current version of the app allows to do it right now.

The Windows phone version will be released if the project became successful. I mean when we earn money to cover investments:)

This sounds great. Read-only locked down version for free sounds very good. I still don't get it when ppl try to use their 4" screen phone to manage their life :) Being able to take quick look at the store will be beneficial for everyone though

Any idea of price tag?

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

Something which I have in my admin/provider pages at the top is a query of total number of processed orders, ie. orders requring action. Its a good indication of the amount of work required at any point in time.

Amazon seller central has this and I took the idea from this and put into the php to display it clear.

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

Just a quick question from a security point of view (apologies I have not had a chance to test the module yet)

Will users have the same login info as the full site ( I assume they would ) and are these passwords able to be stored on the device in an encrypted / non readable format?

Just looking to migrate risks of potential lost devices with admin access.

Many thanks for the clarification.

It is impossible to get the users passwords from the mobile device somehow just because the device doesn't receive, save or cache user passwords from the x-cart server.

In the same time the authorization process doesn't require admin's email and/or password too. Instead of it the App uses a secret key. The key must be generated by the admin at backend and stored in the app's settings. In case if the device has been lost or stollen the admin should generate new access key asap.

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

My site is running 4.6.1 and I just installed the 4.6.1 module and app on my Samsung S4. I was considering purchasing the full version but wanted to check it out first.

I had an order with a "Queued" status (set by the anti-fraudulent module). The order was processed with a CC which was approved. When I opened that order on with Mobile Admin it asked if I wanted to process the order with PayPal. Not sure why it asked or why it wanted to process with PayPal. I said no because I had checked the order already but after I said no it changed the order status to "Declined".

Is this a known bug that was fixed in a newer version or am I the lucky one to find this problem?

Thanks,
George

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

For those concerned about loosing your device, put a password lock on your screen.

On the paid version, I'd like to see the ability to edit an order such as item price and qty, discounts, add items, customer details, please not as clunky as "AOM"....

The only time I use a PC is when working on x-cart.

I run my entire business from an ipad.

I know Steve, we had this conversation years ago

With all of its limitations? :)
I guess depends very much on the business. I can't even think of running my business of iPad. I read news there :) It is my "'couch toy" for quick references and reads but that's about it.

Anyway it is great to have such an app and always useful too be able check (and modify) things on the go

Well we are nearly at the end of January 2015 and still no release?

The last date I head from QT was definitely October 2014!

Talk about missing a deadline............

Ideas are one thing, but results are what count.

Clearly this project is dead.

Re: X-Cart Admin mobile application

We've had an Admin mod for a while now, before they created an app for it. With ours it is not device specific. It is a mobile skin that runs on your X-cart back end. You're welcome to check it out and check out the demo:

http://www.bcsengineering.com/store/mobile-admin-app-for-x-cart.html

We've converted most commonly used admin pages to responsive, if you see a page that's not responsive you are welcome to request it and we can see if it makes sense to include it in the module.

thanks,

Carrie

Here we are in Jan 2015 and no release.

Once again QT breaks a commitment, It's a shame that V5 with be the death of version 4 as it was your best chance to grow the brand.

The Android version works with X-Cart 4 only (yet).

So even though the link you supplied only specifies version 5

http://www.x-cart.com/extensions/addons/mobile-admin.html

This is actually compatible with version 4?

Why would you then not list it as compatible, and update the community / customers about this?

Surely you can understand the frustration as this is either a mis-managed mess, or intentionally kept quiet to push V5.

I am such a XC4 fan, yet you keep digging yourself deeper with simple issues like this.

Actually the iOS version for X-Cart 4 is listed too, but you should not expect any X-Cart 4 -compatible extensions listed here: http://www.x-cart.com/extensions/addons/ - These are X-Cart 5 extensions only.

The list of XC-4 extensions is here: http://www.x-cart.com/extensions/modules/

And the Mobile Admin for X-Cart Classic ( iOS and Android-compatible) is available here:
https://www.x-cart.com/extensions/modules/mobileadmin.html

The announcement in our blog and newsletter has not been made yet, because it covers a bit a larger topic and one of the points it includes requires a couple of extra steps from the side of us and our partners. The work is in progress. Thus we're rolling out the updates without too much buzz, preparing the background - and the announcement is coming soon too.

Also is there the ability to replace the homepage logo with the customers logo (or does an app restrict this?)
