Root Categories module released

Fellow X-Carters!

I am glad to announce release of Root Categories module for X-Cart v4.5+

http://www.x-cart.com/sites/default/files/modules/root_categories_image.png

This simple (although frequently requested) module enables an alternative way of demostrating your products catalog. To be more specific, it replaces the left-side categories menu with a group of root categories icons and descriptions displayed in the central space.

Nevertheless, seeing once is better than hearing twice. Here are some examples.

1. Fashion mosaic skin + Root categories:

2. Ideal comfort + Root categories:

3. Default 2-column layout with root categories displayed in one single row. Titles and descriptions are disabled.

Feel free to buy the module at our website.

Should you have any questions or suggestions, post it here.

Really nice add-on. I will seriously consider buying once my new 4.5.X store is up and running.

One Question...I can't see this add-on as a demo anywhere? I san see how the hompage would look but I want to know what happenes when I am viewing other parts of the store..e.g. subcategory pages, product listings, product pages. Does the left side default navigation show on these other pages? More specifically, is ONLY the homepage affected? This is what I hope would be the case because the other pages are just fine with the default side navigation.

Not trying to rain on the announcement parade, but in my opinion this should be default functionality.

Yes, only homepage is affected. All other pages still show categories side-menu, i.e. remain intact.

Here is the demo.

I agree with Jon. This should definitely be a standard feature of ALL x-cart versions. (not just gold plus!)

Jon, don't give it all away... I'm lucky having your mod "category SEO map" for several years:-) so, I had this functionality way before QT thought of this.. Yes, agreed, should be standard!
