Using template editor without being logged in

Hi

How do we use the Template Editor on the customer side as a not logged in customer?

For e.g. if we want to edit the checkout entry page where you either login or register, how do we see that?

You have to login to Admin to get the template editor to run, but then it assumes you are logged in to the customer side with the same account. If you logout of the customer side, it logs you out of the admin too!!!

Surely we are missing something obvious, otherwise you can't edit non-logged in elements and pages!

Try using Webmaster mode - it is a separate module to install

Hi Steve

Thanks, it's a good tool, but again, unless I'm missing something, I think I still have the same problem.

If I'm logged in to admin, I'm also logged in to the customer side.
So I have Webmaster mode running on the customer side, but I can't see the page in question because I'm logged in.
If I logout of the customer side, I log out of the admin side too and Webmaster disappears.

In X-Cart 4 you could be logged in to admin, but not in to the customer side.
How can I be logged in to admin, but not in to the customer side and still use Webmaster?

You can't, not in the same browser. I complained about this to QT long time ago, multiple times. But they think this is what XC users want (I doubt it) and will not change it. According to them this is an excellent feature not a bug or annoying cart behavior.

You can set the Webmaster mode to work for admin only or for all - see in its settings.
In order to see pages as non-logged in customer you will have to use separate browsers - one logged in as and other - not logged in.
It is not convenient but this is how it works.

Yes, Steve - that's crazy.

Anyway, many thanks for your help - that works.
Setting it to Anyone, and using a separate browser - perfect.
