Does a FREE Profit Reports module exist?
 

So far, I am leaning towards using the Firetank module, however, I would have thought this should have been standard functionality within x-cart itself.

Are there any FREE solutions out there?

Using Store Manager for X-Cart by MagneticOne you can design your own custom reports.

It includes multiple reports out of the box + you have unlimited extensibility.

Store Manager isn't free solution, but you can create any number of reports free of additional charge.
