How to re-charge declined cards for subscription products

Here's the situation: our clients will each have 500-1000+ subscription customers with credit card data saved using X-Payments.

They use this data 2-to-6 times a year to generate bulk product shipments, but typically see 10-20% credit card decline rates.

Current practice in this industry is that the merchant waits 3 days or so and tries charging these cards again. Many will go through the second time because the initial decline was some sort of temporary hold.

So my question is whether there is some way in X-Cart 4.6.6 to recharge the saved card associated with a declined order?

We can't be the first to run into this, so I'd appreciate the community's thoughts on best practices for re-running subscription charges.

Thanks in advance!

Bryan, I've been thinking about this. Operate as this user, place the order manually on the front side, and use saved card?

Alternatively we could build a recharge button on the order page. Or a button to just repeat the order, one click that takes you to the front as the user with the orders contents already in the cart.

Hopefully someone else has some ideas.

If card info is saved and there is a token (or other identifier in X-Payments) you should be able to reuse it to charge the cart without new order placement in XC. Isn't what X-Payments Subscriptions module does?

Bryan, "X-Payments Subscriptions & Installments" module can help you. You just need to sell those products as subscriptions and have the module configured to attempt new charges if a prolongation payment is failed.
