You would want to merge any customizations into the xCMS files. I use BeyondCompare from http://www.scootersoftware.com/ for this.

Did you try using a wildcard on the review variable in robots.txt?

Google will pick these up automatically. I will be adding a google news sitemap to CDSEO in the next CDSEO upgrade (v2.0) which is in active development.

What is the correct method for upgrades?

Just tried the upgrade and patch.sql will not run. It comes back with errors.

Now none of our entries show although they are still there in CDSEO

OK - I fixed this now by only running the new parts of the SQL query used in the patch.

The upgrade instructions can be found in the README.txt. After loading the new files accessing the xCMS admin section will prompt you with necessary changes and provide an SQL patch that needs to be applied.

Applying the SQL differences directly will prevent this from displaying the needed file changes. If you had xCMS installed prior to upgrading, you will still need to make those additional file changes. If you submit a ticket to https://www.websitecm.com/support/ I can send you those file changes.

I don't see the option to link products at the bottom of the entry anymore, has this been removed or replaced by something else?

Also is it possible to completely remove the top menu box that contains the search/most read links as this box is not required on our site.

Thanks

Re: New Release: xCMS - Blogs, Information, News, Articles and more!

Hi, Jon,

We just cleaned some old products from the site and of course that will generate lots of 404 errors. I tried to forward to the home page, could not find out how. These products were deleted from the db. All other 404 errors direct to the custom page.

Then, after I played with setting, the 404 became a default page that does not even match the site's template.

How can I forward 404 to home page, please? I could do it easily in my older version of th emod but can't figure it out now.

Thanks!

After you add an entry you can add the linked products. The Upselling Module must be enabled for it to appear.

You can open the menu_customer.tpl to remove the code on lines 43-72.

CDSEO directs SEO friendly links to the x-cart default. X-Cart directs all product links to product.php which is always a valid url. X-Cart then delivers its own 404 page. Instead of deleting products it is best to disable them and then 301 redirect them via the CDSEO Admin section.
