BCSE Points Mod - bonus points when spend over a certain amount...
 

I just wondered if anyone could help me...

at the moment i don't use an extra field, the points are calculated on the value. If i use an extra field, will it still auto calculate the points value if the extra field is blank? so I don't need to update all 3000 products? just a few?

I also have the Altered Cart On Sale mod, and was planning on offering extra points when customers spend over a certain amount. So I thought I would create a new product called bonus points, and set the points value in an extra feild and have it as hidden but available for sale, then in AC On Sale, when the cart value is over a certain amount, have the product auto added to the cart.

Can anyone forsee any problems with this?

That's a BRILLIANT idea! Can the price of the "bonus points" be $0 and still be permitted to be "sold"? I'll try this out too. Great idea.

yep, it seems to be working on my site, i have it set to auto add free products to the cart, so the price for the Bonus Points products is zero, and it has 500 in the points value extra field. In the AC on sale mod, I have it set to give the bonus points product for free when the spend is over a set amount. when the cart contents are over the amount it adds the product to the cart, so i can't see any problems so far,
