Adding tags for Keywords

In X-cart 5, what is the recommended way or perhaps there should be a way to add Tags to the products.

This is common in blogs like wordpress I believe. I am not sure how this would be best added, with product attributes? But it would be better on the customer end, to view more but this "Tag name" in the product page.

For example if you sell DVDs on movies and you want to add the "Actor name" as a tag / attribute.

Any ideas about this?

You need a custom module for this - out of the box X-Cart 5 neither has the tags feature, nor can handle attributes in such a way.

I have read your message once again and now I think that attributes may work for you: you can setup "Movies" product class with "Actor name" attribute, and customers will be able to search for specific actors or filter products in the category by this attribute with the product filter form in the left side bar (like on this page). The only thing is that these attributes won't be displayed as "tags", and you won't be able to specify any number of "tags" per product (only the attributes pre-defined for the product class). Is it what you are looking for?

do attributes get into the $product array? If so it would be pretty simple to display them. And perhaps even put links to prebuilt searches for the tags, so you could click through from the product page. Would be nice.

There is no $product array in X-Cart 5 :-) But it is possible to program a custom module that displays attributes like tags linked to the search function.
