Using Mandrill for Sending Emails
 

I would like to know if anyone is using Mandrill for sending transactional emails from X-Cart?

As a simpler alternative to modifying X-Cart to send requested User Manuals and Software Applications, Mandrill seems to offer a convenient way of sending such emails. Merge data such as the URL or the information to be downloaded and SKU can be included in Mandrill templates. The templates can be created in MailChimp or Mandrill easily (without having to wrestle with Smarty) and details of emails sent arcan be stored in lists for subsequent marketing activities with MailChimp.

It seems the "only" part that needs to be worked out is integrating the Mandrill API into X-Cart. I would really interested to know if someone has done this.

I am also trying to find out the same answer in 2017:-) Did you figure it out? Can we use mandrill on xcart classic version gold plus 4.7.5 ? any help would be appreciated?

I gave up using Mandrill a couple of years ago. I know use Zoho Mail for all my mail needs. It is free to use. I use it with Zoho CRM for customer management and order processing. I had X-C write a mod to sync stock and export Sales Orders to Zoho CRM. Zoho CRM also shares the sales info with Zoho Books (accounts software).

Zoho does so much more than the above and is inexpensive.

Okay I was not aware of ZOHO and will look into ZOHO CRM as well. But meanwhile can you integrate mandrill into version 4.7.5, does mandrill require special integration?

At the moment Mandrill does require special integration for X-Cart 4 as we do not have a module for that at the moment.

Mandrill has been supported since X-Cart 4.7.8
