I'm did a fresh 4.1 install in one directory, left the original 4.0.18 in another. To import products into 4.1, I first must upgrade 4.0.18 database then export, right? Is this upgrade going to affect the original 4.0.18 database? I'd prefer to keep that operational until I get this new release working.

I got same. |
That store is an .asp store.
I am still having problems using the product import in 4.1.0. I have the option checked to create categories, but I continue to get the error message: Error on line 3: Category does not exist (PRODUCTS): 1027/1;Schabak JU-52 Lufthansa;Array;Schabak 1:250 Scale;15.5;15.5;1;Y;Schabak/1:250 Scale In the example above, the category Schabak exists, but has no sub categories. I did get the product import to work if all of the categories exist. |

Turn on your product options before upgrading. That fixed it for me. |

Sounds like your importing the header of your csv file as well, personally i chop it as x-cart tends to be pickier if you try to use the "Get column names from the first row of the CSV file (disable columns order above)" option. I've not tested 4.1.0 YET, just going from past experience. |
Code:
SQL error #1062 : Duplicate entry 'search_products_extra_fields' for key 1  this is what happend while doing sql upgrade. |
Does *anyone* know - Are you supposed to upgrade 4.0.18 database to 4.1.0, export, then import? Will a 4.0.18 store still operate with this upgraded 4.1.0 database?

Since it's a big jump and I have many mods to the 4.0.18, I did a fresh install of 4.1.0 in another directory. I goal is to get 4.1.0 in good working order before switching. I would like to export the items from 4.0.18, then import them into 4.1.0. However, when I try to do that it doesn't like it. If I upgrade the database from 4.0.18 to 4.1.0, will that store 4.0.18 store still work, or does the whole cart have to be upgraded? That's the quandry...
