trying to change "News" to "Articles" in
 

i've been looking all over for where to change the name for this. anyone know?

The actual name of the file or just the name of it showing on the store? If the later go to your languages database and you can change it there.

i changed lbl_news, but that didn't do anything. i'd like to change the actual template name, but when i did that, things got screwy.

That is because you will then need to change any other file that refers to that one. Why would you need to rename the actual tpl file name? If you don't mind me asking. I can't even begin to thin of a reason why it would need to be changed.
