why have sub-forums been removed?

I was wondering why various sub-forums have been removed from the forum, like the 'General Talk' (in General section), 'Rants & Raves', 'Offers' & 'Requests' sub-forums.

Well, my next question is, if the threads that existed in the removed subforums have been moved in the currently existing sub-forums, or have they been deleted?
