Re: X-Cart 5.2.6 now available!

Hi Kevin,

First of all you must not store credit cards in your database!
You can do it if you go through complete PCI compliance certification and this does not mean employing automated quarterly PCI scans from companies like McAfee, Comodo, etc.

You used your web-site name as your nickname and posted that you collect and store credit cards in your database in a public forum. You use a quite old X-Cart version and specified its version, too. Consider yourself as a guy with a target drawn on your chest.

I removed your nickname and X-Cart version from below quote and suggest you to change your nickname (PM to user "qualiteam" to do that).

What X-Cart 5 does - it employs PCI compliant and safe way of storing credit cards via tokenization provided by X-Payments. See http://www.x-payments.com/xcart5-features.html
Btw, the same is supported for X-Cart 4.x (and for your X-Cart version, too) - see http://www.x-payments.com/xcart4-features.htm

You can't use tokenization provided by X-Payments to process credit cards manually, but I highly recommend you to switch to an online payment gateway instead of doing what you are doing. You are not in safety.

Alex

Hi Ksenia,

We are currently using x-cart version X.Y.Z. The main reason why we have not upgraded is because we need to take credit card payments manually and process them on our terminal in our warehouse. I was told newer versions do not support manual CC transactions.

I noticed on the page for 5.2.6 the following:
  • Saving the credit card without placing the order, the customer may add a different billing address.
So does this mean that 5.2.6 now supports manual CC transaction without needing a payment gateway?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi ambal,

Thanks for your reply, I have removed any personal/site related info in my post, thanks for the warning. May I PM you for more questions?

Oh and if you could modify your response to remove the same info you told me to remove that would be great.

Cheers,

Kevin

Sure! But I think a ticket in your HelpDesk account will be better way to communicate. Just email me at helpdesk@x-cart.com with "Attn for Alex Mulin" as Subject.

Actually I did that immediately. No reference to your site and X-Cart version there.
