1 Attachment(s)
Hello, X-Carters!

We are glad to announce the release of X-Cart 4.5.4 version. It is available for downloading in the File area of your personal HelpDesk account or at http://www.x-cart.com/download.html

Substantially, it▓s a bugs-fix release which also contains small improvements and optimizations (for the full list of bugs fixed and improvements added please refer to CHANGELOG file attached).

However, we▓ve also included several major improvements being intensively discussed on this forum:

1. PayPal Advanced iframe improvement.
Customers stay on checkout page and pay in pop-up iframe window.

Re: X-Cart v4.5.4 released

Hi Alexander,

That's great -- Thanks for your hard work fixing things.

However, how about these bugs?

Add To Cart Popup - "Buy Now" upsell product adds to cart instead of redirect
https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=42319

Add To Cart Popup - FAIL if using product option validation
https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=42316

Delete admin - Error ID: 78
https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=42285

===========

I am very close to deploying a 4.5.3 gold plus store. Will I be able to upgrade from 4.5.3 gold plus to 4.5.4 gold plus? When do you expect upgrade packs to be available?

I know you've been very busy on this update, but it would be very helpful for acknowledgment of bugs reported in the forum and/or bugtracker.

Thanks,

Jeremy

What happens for those of us that already have First Data e4? I got it from their website and did the installation myself... will this change affect me?

Hi, Jeremy

Thank you for the feedback.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Add to Cart Pop-Up was aimed to ease the process and when a customer clicks on Add to Cart in pop-up window he expects the item to be added to the cart instantly. Whereas, you want to redirect him to the product details page (unexpected behaviour).

We will definitely take you suggestion into consideration while working on a new release. However, I can't assure you that it will be done exactly as you described.

We need some time to perform thorough investigations and test it. I can't provide you with an instant reply.

Undoubtedly, you will be able to upgrade from 4.5.3 gold plus to 4.5.4 gold plus, Jeremy. It will be a standard upgrade pack for GoldPlus version.

Upgrade packs release dates are standard - within 3-7 business days approximately. So, you will be able to download them next week.

Thank you.

We've used the same payment method name as in their module from the website, so it's not going to affect you, everything should be OK.

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for replying.

The behavior that should happen is a standard function of X-cart from any category page with a BUy NOW button -- IF, the setting:

Product Options
Redirect a customer who clicks the "Buy Now" or "Add to wish list" buttons of a product with product options to product details page [checked]

please see:
http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=65183

The issue here is the function of BUY NOW should be consistent across the ENTIRE store. IF a customer clicks on a product that requires options anywhere else in xcart (and the setting is enabled to redirect to product page if there are options required), then xcart takes the customer to the product page to select options.

Alternatively, if xcart were to allow the selection of options in the products listing, there would be no need for this.

The reason this is an ESSENTIAL fucntion for the cart is that if the customer uses the upsell buy now and adds and item, WHAT size is it going to be? What color? This ONLY creates problems for the customer and the merchant snce they will both have to deal with this. "the customer can specify size or color in the cart" is not acceptable. That's too late. In the case of makeup products, we have various shades of powder. The "default" color may be light-medium, but that's only because about 35% of the customer are this color. But we also have colors for very light all the way to dark. We CAN NOT assume a customer has light skin. If we ship the customer the wrong color, we have to deal with returns, upset customers and expenses. The easy solution is to require the customer select the color they want before they checkout. (ah -- see https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=42316 and http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=65176 ) -- it's related!

The correct flow should be just like on a category or featured products page. The code exists. You probably had to code around the preference. PLEASE respect the normal behavior of the store. DO I need to get you a bunch of "yes, Jeremy is right here -- please fix x-cart" emails?

Please discuss this with your team. I know you will agree that the cart consistency and making order process simple for the CUSTOMER is all that matters. If the customer has to change a color or size or (more likely) merchant has to contact the customer and verify their color choice, this is not making anything easier for the customer. Or the merchant.

Thanks.

Jeremy

Thank you --

Here is the post in the forum for those that are reading:
http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=65176

This is related in some ways to the other buy now button issue:
Redirect a customer who clicks the "Buy Now" or "Add to wish list" buttons of a product with product options to product details page

Not related technically in the code, but more in a merchandising way. Customers MUST be able to easily select the most appropriate size or color without extra steps. We (cart, merchant) must make this easy for the customer, else it's our fault if they miss this in the next step.

This is standard behavior for xcart since 4.1.x -- this is not the time to remove this. Does everyone agree?

Thank you!
Yes, removing an admin is not an every day thing, but if there is a button to remove it, it should work. Thanks for the patch.

I look forward to the 4.5.4 gold plus patch, since there are many issues that I simply haven't reported yet that I need fixed (apparently patched in 4.5.4)

Thanks!

Jeremy
