XC5 Sorting Order
 

I am trying to find a way to sort by add date--e.g. newest first.

Under the cart and checkout settings I have a menu in which I can select the default sorting order. In my list I have "Recommended, By Price -- cheapest first, By Price -- cheapest last, By Name -- A-Z and By Name -- Z-a". That's it. Nothing else. In the X-cart Demo store, there are quite a few more options including Newest First. I thought maybe this sorting feature was part of the Product Filter module, but having looked at the settings in the Demo store, there is nothing about it there.

Is this a paid feature? We're running XC 5.1.10 free edition.

I think I stumbled onto where the solution resides....

It looks like it is contained in the product advisor module. The question is, how can this, new arrivals/sort by add date, be accomplished independent of this module? We really do not need all of the modules that comes with the upgrade to a business license. So I can't justify the cost for the upgrade for this one feature.

Anyone have anything already coded to accomplish this? I know the add date is probably already in the db. Just looking to save some time.

Start with creating an empty module according to the article here:
http://kb.x-cart.com/display/XDD/Step+1+-+creating+simplest+module

and provide me with your developer and module ID. After that I will suggest how to proceed with this task.
