3.4.9 - 3.5.0 Upgrade Kit Released

3.4.9 - 3.5.0 Upgrade Kit should now be in your file area

Could everyone please post their experiences with the 3.4.9 to 3.5.0 one as there are many new changes in it which could affect a variety of mods/addon/custom features. It would be useful if everyone could list anything they think other users should look out for.

After a quick look i would imagine that this is one of those that would be easier to do a fresh install rather then upgrade. There are lots of changes form 3.4.x to 3.5.x.

Saying that though I've not tried it myself yet

To tell you the truth, I'm sick of doing fresh installs.

Man this is great. I did a fresh install. Just manually updated the database and then backed up my skin folder. The deleted my old site WITHOUT deleteing the database as it was already ready. Then I sent up the x-cart folder untared it and the installed. Took all of 10 miutes to do that. Then I just had to upload my site images and and change a few files. Was really a piece a cake. I really like the additions so far to this version. It is great.

I'm wanting to do it on a heavily customised site, a lot and I mean alot of changes to the TPL's including the smarty logic on them, it's got changes on the the order screens, the config database, func.php has been changed, config.php changed.

I think it's going to be a case of 10 gallons of coffee and a day to do it 8O Think I'll start all my new sites on the 3.5.X branch even if it is unstable.

Whats cool is that alot of the changes they added I already used. My life became easier because of this release. It saves me 3/4 of the time I use to spend doing a new site.

Has anyone tried going from 3.4.9 to 3.5.0 on a non modified cart ??

I might give it a blast soon... Guess I should back up my entire store first though !!!!

I'm about to give it a whirl on a new 3.4.9 site that has only had .tpls modified and only has one test product. No changes to any php files at all. I'll post back with my results tomorrow.

Turns out the store I though was 3.4.9 was 3.4.8 so I upgraded to 3.4.9 - It wouldn't upgrade skin1.css even when it was reverted back to the version from skin1_original, so I applied everything else and then just changed the version number in xcart_config manually.

BUT for some reason the upgrade center wouldn't recognize the 3.4.9-3.5.0 upgrade so I used lildawg's method of patching the database with all the 3.5.0 patches, backing it up along with the skin1 directory, doing a clean install, restoring the database, then restoring the skin1 directory.

Worked like a charm. I would have liked to done the regular upgrade process to give some feedback to everyone, but I didn't want to spend time trying to figure out why the upgrade center wasn't seeing the 3.4.9-3.5.0 upgrade.
