Product Options TextArea
 

I need to have a TextArea for a product option. Is there a mod for this.

I am using the newest version of X-cart 4.2.2

Yes it is by default with xcart. In product modify page look at the top menu items and click on product options

I see in the product options where you can at a "text field", but i need to have a textarea where they can enter a message and not just a line of text. Is that available?

Sorry. Not by default. You can probably replace the text field with text area. Not sure how the script will save it in db - like a line or with the line brakes

I don't see why this is not a part of xcart already. I had a custom Mod created by xcart for this on an older version, but I don;t think it will work for the new version.

Does anyone know of a way to get a text area for one of the product options?

Is the text the same for the "one product option" category? I have a closeouts category and I needed to add a "condition rating" table to an extra field within the product.tpl page that I could use across the board for my closeouts. I didn't want to place the html table directly in the extra field text field for each closeouts item, because if the table information changed I would have to make the change for each product within my .csv file and import this to the store. What I did was create a closeouts.tpl for my html table, placed it in the appropriate folder and I added the {include file="modules/Extra_Fields/condition_table.tpl"} script in my product.tpl.

in what files I need to replace text field to text area to make it work.

will this be global change or I can adjust it for selected products.

Does anyone know how add character counter for text box (text field)?

Did anyone actually ever get down to the issue of coming up with a solution re how to get a text area rather than a text box? (things like this, should all be default out of the box functionality)

See the post above it is do able - but it takes alittle bit of tweaking. I did it (a while ago now though and it worked for me. As always - before you make any changes - backup . It may not work in 4.3.x and 4.4.x
