Showing Hand Picked Root/Sub Categories
 

Hello, I am trying to write a modification for the top_menu.tpl to simplify menu browsing and expand a bit more as to some of the new products we are launching as well.

Currently we have at http://www.horrormerchstore.com/shop/

Root Category 1 / Sub Category 1 / Sub Category 2 / etc
and I would like to show
Root Category 1 / Root Category 2 / etc

with direct links - which that part is easy enough however...

If someone clicks on Root Category 1 (or any subcategory under Root Category 1) I would like it to show a few hand picked Subcategories

i.e.

Row 1 : Root Category 1 / Root Category 2 / etc
Row 2 : Root1-Subcategory 30 / Root1- Subcategory89 / etc
but the second row would change depending on which Root Category they had picked from the first row

So a simple if then statement can be used but I'm not sure of the exact syntax of how to bring it up. Any help would be appreciated

The language is very basic and has just a few statements, but I believe this is what you need.
