Feedback appreciated on how you handle automated follow up to customer orders?

How do you handle automated customer follow up (after the order is completed)?

My immediate concern is simple: creating an autoresponder to send an email "x" amount of days after the order has shipped. I do expect to expand this to newsletters, promos, etc. in the next few months.

Can I set up mailchimp to handle my simple concern right now (I have 4.3.1), or buy a 3rd party mod (such as mercury minds autoresponder) to handle this? It's a pricey mod, but seems easy to implement.

I have a staff of 2 (including myself) that manages all aspects of our business (wholesale, warehouse, in-store, customer service, bookkeeping) - our online store is a new venture. So the opinions and experiences from those of you that are, like me, trying to do it all would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think mercury minds have an autorespoder. You can find a complex one at MagneticOne with a looooot of features. If you want something simpler and much cheaper, take a look at our Message Machine (http://www.cartonsteroids.com/Message-Machine/).

We have implemented until now on:
- a flower shop: send reminder to clients in 364 day from complete order
- a herbalife seller: send instruction to clients in days 3, 7, 12, 18, 24 and 40.
- a DVD shop: asking clients to make a movie review 6 days from shipping

Yes. Pretty possible with bit of customization. You can set followup in Mailchimp. Contact our sales team, they will get back to you.

no auto responder, but my suggestion is to create an extra order status field called "ask-feedback".

When your order is complete after 1 week, you can manually change the status to "ask-feedback". It will send an email to customer asking for customer feedback.

Will need to do some modications
