I have not gotten an update for this? What's the status on the Sales Tax Calculations.

Hello @hartwellj,

I have sent you couple of emails after you sent me CSV sample, but I did not get replies. Sorry for the miscommunication happened.

Already emailed you about the module.

I would want to understand how sales tax report must look like and then extend current module or write a new one, so you could easily handle taxes.

Hi Tony,

I am no tax expert, The report would have to basically total all the sales tax that was actually collected and paid paid by customers at checkout. The actual sales tax charged would be determined what the settings are in the Sales Tax Mod set up by store admin (i.e. sales tax charged at checkout).

We need a total of sales tax "collected / paid by customers" for a specific period and for a specific state. Also need a total sales for the period that was taxed and the total sales not taxed (for the same state). Remember sales tax is not charged on all products. Have a look at some state tax return forms and you will see what info they ask for.

Some companies pay the sales tax to their states treasuries monthly, other quarterly and other annually. Some companies only charge sales tax to customers that reside in their specific state others charge in multiple states if they warehouses in more than one state.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for more info!

I can easily add a breakdown of sales by taxes paid and state, but I guess it would not be enough.

At the moment I am trying to reach out to merchants who actually want to have automation in preparing tax reports, so they would tell me in what format they want to see the report in.

@learnteach, could you please tell me how do you deal with taxes right now? Once I know the process, I will be able to suggest how to automate and simplify it.

Tony

Automation is hard. I would settle for a simple break down by state. It'll be very hard to find a lookup table for all of the taxes and not to mention some counties have an additional surcharge tax as well.

Looks like this has become stale. This is a pricey module with promises of future enhancements. Please consider updating datepicker widget and adding more reporting on a regular basis (v4).

Hi @cherie,

Thanks for follow up on this. I am actually ready to add new reports on regular basis as long as there is need in them. However, I have not had any requests to add new ones yet. People just buy what we have and if I ask whether they need some extra metrics, they just do not respond.

If you have any clients that would like to see some new reports, let me know so we could discuss the details.

Re: Order reports module for X-Cart 4 & 5

- Datepicker should be updated
- Columns should be sortable (reported to you separately)
- Tax reporting should be added (noted in this thread)
- Add interactive graphs
- Add integration with other modules, such as the ability to create targeted marketing lists of customers based on sales data/reports (see now-defunct third-party marketing reporting modules).

If you spend a few minutes one-on-one with any store owner who's been using X-Cart for a while they'll give you the feedback you should be looking for. Otherwise, make it free and included. It's too expensive as-is.
