That's great!

I can suggest the POS to all online stores that have their own stock and have customers walk in to pick up stuff: it's really fast to use when customers want to add some more to their order, I love it with a barcode scanner.

If you're wondering: it works just fine with a cheap USB barcode scanner as well, I have bought 2 extra during the beta periode and am using them right now.

This is truly awesome news. I am so glad that the POS system is out of Beta! X-cart is about to rock the SMB market.

I have already written an CSV importer that wil accept SKU;EAN format files to add them to existing products in bulk. Can't wait to populate my live store with this!

Do you have to input a UPC only (with a scanner or manually)? You can't just browse for the product and "add to cart" in POS mode?

You can simply browse for products. Its very flexible, you can add products to cart however you like.

As Totaltec said, both.
You can add products to cart as normal, and just scan them 1 after another to add them to the cart.

Re: X-Cart POS, X-Cart 5.1 and X-Cart Free edition released

That Free release version will help the rising of X-Cart. I am happy you took this in consideration. Every popular shopping cart started as open source/free. Your decision will help also having more developers and building a solid platform in a very short period of time (bugs&features).

I am not a big fan of X-Cart 5, but I am spending little time with it almost every day. Its competition should be Magento 2. This new version of Magento even is stable is far away from version 1. It was announced around 2011 - 2012 and it was build from scratch. This means even you liked Magento 1, you have to buy new extensions, new developer work to get it in shape. X-Cart Next is the way you have to learn in my opinion. A new concept started about 5 years ago and is the path many of you should take in consideration. If Magento 2 fails in what you want, X-Cart is a good solid option for those who did not decide what to do after XC4.

If XC5 had all XC4 features to date, more joint this modern platform. The main lacks: internalization and more themes. I am pretty sure the features will come in the next 2 years for making XC4 looking so old. Good job Qualiteam!

We found an issue with the admin side and searching for users when you select a country. After the 2nd search you get this screen shot.

Thank you Carrie for bug report. The problem has been already fixed and the fix will be included into 5.1.3 version.

Tony,

Thanks.

We also found an issue on our test site with switching payment processors in while checking out causing a spinning AJAX issue on the right column of checkout. We can't reproduce on your demo since we can't add a processor. You may want to check it out internally to see if it's an issue.

Thanks,

Carrie

Just a reminder bugs can be reported at: http://bt.x-cart.com

X-cart prefers this vs. posting them in the forum.

This keeps them in one place, you can see the list of bugs you have reported and the status, rather than posts all over the place after every release. Bugs are often looked at immeadiately there and you will get an update which version it will be fixed in.

That's good to hear. Too bad this never happened with v4.

The POS installation isn't flawless yet either, I got an empty error when trying to install it (didn't have write permissions on all necessary files).

Would be nice to assign POS orders to a customer so my walk in customers will see their purchases online, also they can earn points from their in-store purchases.

We are trying to adapt the new X-Cart POS to winery tasting rooms & will need the ability to swipe credit cards both at the main POS terminal and on mobile devices carried by salespeople. Is the X-Cart POS compatible with any credit card readers currently? Or has anyone reading this thread successfully implemented a similar retail POS solution?? Thx!

X-Cart 4.6.x
X-Payments 2.x

I'd use PayPal Here. Way cheaper than other equipment solutions.

Is there a changelog for 5.1.2?

tony_sologubov 07-07-2014 02:35 AM

Re: X-Cart POS, X-Cart 5.1 and X-Cart Free edition released

Oh, I believe, there was no changelog for 5.1.2.

There is a changelog for 5.1.3 though http://kb.x-cart.com/display/XDD/5.1.3

Do you need one for 5.1.2? I can create it if there is a need.

5.1.2 was the biggest release since 5.0.10. It would be handy to have the details of the changes.

OK. We will create one next week.

Does anybody know if this is possible?

Hi cherie!

I am sorry, we cannot build a changelog for 5.1.2 at the moment. I promise, we will have a changelog for next major release: 5.2.x.

Tony.

Thank you for your request.
Unfortunately this feature currently is not supported in the X-Cart POS module, but we can implement it as a custom solution for you.

If you interested in this implementation please fell free to contact us through the HelpDesc message board, we will estimate how much will it cost.

Are you requesting this feature for X-Cart 4.x or X-Cart 5 edition?

Thank you.
