Xcart 4.0.3 is now in your file area along with Upgrade kits that take you from

V4.0.2 - V4.0.3

Heres the changelog

Help with applying the patch to Windows server
 

I can never make these patchs work for me.
What am I doing wrong.
I down load the patch and unzip it to the store dir. then I go to adim area
and run the patch upgrade.
The test phase shows permissions are OK
but I get checksum error on all files.
Do I need to change anything in the patch as to locations of the store or just run it like it unzips??

use winrar instead of winzip

when I upgrade from 3.5.4 to 3.5.6, i have all the files checksum errors too. The x-cart support said I need to upload them in Binary code, I don't know where to change it, I use dreamweaver.

!! I can never make these patchs work for me. !!

The best way is to upload the file as is to your xcart directory ie: (tgz). then lets say you use cpanel, login, go to file manager and find that (tgz) then extract it with your cpanel.

This will extract it to the correct areas in xcart. You must then make sure that all files to be patched have the correct permissions, (cmod 666 or 777).

You can then go to your admin panel in xcart and select the patch/upgrade link and it will then see that there is an upgade to apply.

Some of the files may need to patched manualy. that is because they have been modified to much for the automatic upgrade to work.

Has anybody tried the search function? because it doesn't seen to be working on my client side (works in admin) I did a full clean install but am still wondering if it's just me. :?: UPDATE: my fault, forgot to chmod

I just can't make this work. On a mac I first have the .tgz file, which I can uncompress so it's a .tar file, which can be uncompressed again to be a folder called:

"4.0.2-4.0.3-gold_upgrade Folder"

Inside that are various folders and a read-me file that has slightly different instructions than the pdf manual for v4. Either way, I just cannot get it to show up in the pop-up to upgrade it. I have NO idea how to expand the archive using the control panel, there's simply no place to choose that. I uploaded the folder (and the other two archives just in case) to my xcart folder and proceeded to change the permissions on every single file in there, because at the moment I don't have Terminal access to my server.

Still nothing. Can someone post detailed instructions on what to do here?

Am I actually supposed to not just place the upgrade folder in the Xcart directory, but place the CONTENTS there, replacing several files in the process? If so, the directions are VERY vague on this one.

If I upload JUST the "upgrade" folder that is inside the folder I mentioned earlier, and also the Install.php file from that folder, the 4.0.3 patch appears in the pop-up. I won't run it because I know not everything is there, but I wanted to see if it would show up. So, if that's where the upgrade and install files need to be, what the heck do I do with the other folders in that "0.2-4.0.3-gold_upgrade Folder" ?

Should I go through and replace them one at a time and then run the patch? Man, I wish someone would create clear, consice instructions for the patch system. Even the one's I've found in the forums are confusing for a newbie.

Why don't you humour us and fix up your profile. Add your version and server environment. Some information on your server version and which modules you have installed would also be helpful.

Crap, I DID fix it like a week ago, and I see it's still not updated. Trust me, I went in and added my version number after the last time someone mentioned it wasn't there.

I have 4.0.2 right now.

EDIT: There it goes, something must have gone wrong when I tried adding my version number before.

My suggestion, if you don't have SSH ability to your server, GET IT. Using FTP will always mess things up. I got it done finally. A few notes though:

1. If you get an Unable to Patch errors, take a screen shot or write down what files they were. I thought I'd get a log or something and didn't, so I had to try yo figure out what they were after the screen showing them was no longer up.

2. Make sure if you use an automatic credit card system AND sell egoods, TURN OFF the new check box at the bottom of the Module Options page called "Forcedly to turn on Manual CC processing if the cart contains EGoods:" or your orders will suddenly go manual and everything will get cued. It's a nice feature, but if you forget about it, it won't be fun running all that stuff manually.

Any idea when or if we'll see a 3.5.11->4.0.3 database upgrade tool released?

I am still wondering when I should start our conversion to 4.0.X. The less work involved and the less risk of bugs, the better.

does anybody know how to set you x-cart gold 4.03 to have differnt header and footer for a partner? This is mentioned in the new features, but I can't find instructions anywhere.

Yes, please. I really do not want to go through the upgrade process more than once. Or, infact, more than the five or six or more times that it appears it requires to get this software updated.

Or do I have to make a fresh installation?
