Pages titles need HELP!!!!!!!
I just spent 1 hour looking for the correct "tpl" file.
What I am trying to do is replace the following "X-CART. Powerful PHP shopping cart software" with something that is relevant to my store. The message is display on the top left corner of the window to the left of "Microsoft Internet Explorer". Can some one please point me to the correct file so I can make this change. Thank you in advance Kind Regards, Ricky P.S. It will be wonderful if there is a file that has a description of each of the "tpl" files and it purpose this will save so much time to every one. X-CART 3.5.8 Gold |

Shan;
I went to the link you provided and try to follow the instructions provided by Boomer but I can not find all that in my x-cart folders. Still need help on the problem. |
It's not in your x-cart folders.
The site title is stored in the admin languages. You need to go back and re-read that thread. It's not a file you need to change, it's a database language entry. Good luck. |
Thank you both of you guys: Adpboss and Shan. I guess next time I will not read anything at 3:00am and make sure I am rested.
Thank you for the great help and I did change it. Kind regards, Ricky |
I replaced my title code with the code from location.tpl, to give me a nice Dynamic title that is in this format
Company Name : Category : Sub-Category ( if any ) : Product/Page Name Just remove the <a> and <font> tags and your good to go! |
I made the changes as listed in the other forum and it saved the information but didn't change the title. What am I doing wrong?

Here is what I did in order to change the title. Adming section 1.- Selected Language 2.- Selected English on drop down menu. 3.- Selected Text on Select topic drop down menu. 4.- Typed Title on the apply filter text box. 5.- Down to the bottom of the page and selected Apply changes and that did it. Good luck Kind regards, Ricky P.S. Please tell us about the version of x-cart and all the good stuff about your server OS. |
I followed the exact same steps you have listed here and it saved the changes but won't update the actual pages. When I exit out and go back in and follow the steps again, it shows the updated text in the admin, but the customer side still shows the old info.
Here is my server and version info: Environment components info: Component Status X-Cart version 3.5.10 X-Cart directory /home/mcatv1/public_html/shop PHP 4.3.8 details >> MySQL server 4.0.20-standard MySQL client 4.0.20 Web server unknown (Apache) Operation system Linux Perl 5.008001 details >> XML parser (expat) 1.95.6 |

Have you compiled your templates? (not recommended BTW) If you have, then this may be why it's not updating since this causes the text to be hard coded into the tpl's Carrie |
ARGH!
Never ever ever ever compile your templates! Please say that did not happen... |

I really don't know why X-cart gives you this option without first explaining EXACTLY why in 99% of most cases you don't want to do it. ](*,) Maybe we should start a Rant about this option in the Rants & Raves or put it in Wishlist to have it explained better. ;) Carrie |
Okay, fortunately I only have 1 product in my system and it is not live yet. How do I undo this horrible tragedy?
|
I have restored all the templates. I'll go through and redo what few mods I have made and should be good to go now right?
Thanks for your help guys! |

Yes, you should be good to go once you do all of that. Glad you got it before you made too many mods! Carrie |

Yes! Thanks everyone for your help. Everything is working smoothly now. I've gone to town with mods already and it's beginning to look pretty sharp.
