Webmaster Mode isn't working
I dont know what went wrong, but for some reason, my webmaster mode only shows $lng stuff, and it doesn't show the tpl's at the bottom anymore. Also the little debug window that pops up isn't working right. When I put my mouse over the tpl name, it doesn't highlight the area that the tpl represents on the page.
Any ideas? George Version 3.5.7 Unix |
What web browser are you using? I think its only IE compatible.

webmaster mode
No thats not the problem.
I just tried it on my other server that I use for testing, and it works. It's just that on my real store its not working. |
I fixed it
I found the problem. I recently upgraded to smarty 2.6.2. Either I did something wrong, or version 2.6.2 doesnt work with the x-cart webmaster mode.
I switched back to 2.5.0 and it works fine. |
Ah! Very interesting, I just upgraded from Smarty 2.5.0 to 2.6.2 and my webmaster mode stopped working too! It must be something with 2.6.2. I think others should know about this...
Thanks! |
Hi,
I am using Smarty v2.5.0 (original source from x-cart gold) and am experiencing the same problems while executing webmaster mode. Tech specs as my signature. |
stuck with the same error
I'm having this problem as well.
My server config: X-Cart Gold 3.5.7, original source Smarty 2.5.0 PHP 4.3.6 MySQL server 4.0.16-standard MySQL client 3.23.49 Web server Microsoft-IIS/5.0 The Javascript error: Line: 40 Char: 2 Error: 'parentNode' is null or not an object Code: 0 URL: http://mysite/customer/home.php |
It seems that there are two different configs that would cause this webmaster mode issue:
1) X-Cart v3.4.14 or below AND Smarty 2.6.2 2) X-Cart v3.5.x AND Smarty 2.5.0. Is anyone running v3.5.x AND Smarty 2.6.2 and having this issue? I wonder if X-Cart support would help us, even though they did not officially approve the upgrade to Smarty 2.6.2? Unfortunately, I don't even receive ANY Javascript errors, so I have no idea where to start. With the ParentNode issue above, I wonder if the debug console window is open? Do you have a popup blocker? I often get Javascript errors on a website that expects a popup to load, but my blocker blocks it. |
webmaster mode
Jeremy,
I think you misunderstood. I am using 3.5.7, and I only began having the problem when I switched to 2.6.2. When I switched back to 2.5.0, the problem went away. |
Web Master Mode off
Hi...
Have you tried turning off any kind of 'popup killer' software? Worked for me... Hope this helps. Aragorn |
I dont use any.

That may fix the issue for dcrulz, since he is having a specific javascript error. I use Google popup blocker but I am allowing all popups for my xcart site, so it allows the console debugger to show. This probably isn't it. |
The pop up debugger window works. The problem is the tpl guide in the bottom of the browser stops working. I personally find that to be the most useful portion of webmaster mode.

I am right with you. In webmaster mode, if I click on a $lng.xxx value, it pops up the editor to change the name of the language var, and if I click on a template in the console debugger, that works fine as well. To me, the MAJOR issue (and I agree with you) is that the template guides that show in the status bar of Internet Explorer are no longer there. That was all I used it for. I never edited files using the X-Cart editor, I always did it by hand. |
popups not an issue
I do have a pop-up blocker installed, but I have it set to allow popups on my x-cart site. The debug window does work as well.
I'm having the same issue where I can see text labels, but not template paths... |
