username
In version 4.2.1 when a new customer attempts to register a Username that is already in use, he gets error message: "username is in use". I would like to change the wording of that error message. Do you know the location and file name in templates, that I should go to for that change?

Re: username
This is most likely a language variable so no need to modify files. Search admin languages for "username is in use"

Re: username
Thanks for your reply. Sorry, but I don't see anywhere to locate "Languages" other than on the main setup where you select English as the default language.

Re: username
Hi,
In Admin, go to: - Administration > Languages In "Edit Language" select your base language ie "English" Now on this page find "Select Topic" = All > "Apply Filter" in this box type "username is in use" and hit "Go" This should now bring up the text that you want to change. Kind regards ITVV |
Re: username
You're a lifesaver. I had no idea that option was available, and I'll try it right away. Thank you so very much for your help and for taking the time to answer. Have a great day.

You are very welcome.
If I can help you any further just shout out. Hope your day goes well :-) Kind regards ITVV |
Re: username
That problem is now fixed, thanks to your help. The larger problem is one that Tech Support has not responded to me about. It is this: when a new user attempts to checkout, and during registration, enters a Username that has already been taken, he gets a very brief "Username already exists" message, and then is immediately taken to the Homepage. Pressing the back button replays that event. However, in testing this issue, I found that if I register before attempting checkout, and enter a username that has already been taken, I receive the proper "Username already exists" error message, and am allowed to stay on the Registration Page to enter another choice for username. I think this issue has been going on for years and I always thought the customers were screwing up somehow. Any ideas to fix this problem?

Re: username
Hi eggharbor,
I have just walk through the scenarios that you posted and cannot find the bug? Admitted I tried on 4.2.0 version on my dev server but could not replicate the issue you highlight? Which skin are you using? Kind regards ITVV |
Re: username
I cannot seem to find the skin name; however I don't want to take up any more of your time. You've been very helpful to me, and I have used your instructions to be able to change about 8 sections of the site that had language that I've never been happy with, so I am very happy about those new changes. I'll just have X-Cart Tech Dept investigate my installation in order to find what is causing this odd issue. Thank you so much for the time you've taken to help me. I noted your website and may visit in the future for one of your products.

Re: username
It's not a problem at all.
Anytime you think I may be able to help feel free to give me a shout. Have a great Saturday. Kind regards ITVV |
