Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
HI Will, We have been looking for a different banner serving system on one of my main clients' site for a while and have been waiting for this release on any decision. So far it looks great. I plan to install a demo soon and will be in touch if I have any questions.

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hey DrHeath,
Yes, by all means grab the trial demo and check it out for yourself. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the features we have added here. I know I am biased when I say this... but no other banner module comes even close to XB2. If you find we are missing any features that you would think make it better - just let us know :) regards W. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Will, thanks for making it responsive, now banners look good on small tablets, previously with XB1 I had to cut them in order to fit on the screen.

Hi Stizerg,
Glad you like it - we do our best to please :) Let us know if there is anything else. regards W. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
TheXCartStore xBanners2 is now more powerful than ever. I do recommend this module as a "must have" in any X-Cart store. Having it responsive will help you dialing on mobile devices.
Looking forward to see a new release for xMenus - this one is another "must have" for X-Cart stores. If you plan any Predictive Search please revise my suggestion sent at the end of 2012. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hi Will,
With xbanners2, can I assign a banner (set) to ANY x-cart page? For example, I would like a banner set to serve on /register.php Can I simply place the xbanners2 tag in the template register.tpl ? I hope so... Thanks, J |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
thanks for the help in upgrading to xbanners2!!!
the new features are great. i have a suggestion for a new feature: i wish the option to set one or more banners to be showed always as first respecting the "position" number, maybe a welcome banner or some important info, then the others random |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the great comments and feedback. Jeremy: That is correct, you can simply copy & paste the xbanner tag into your regsiter.tpl file and the corresponding xBanner will load into that position on your register page where the tag has been place. Just be sure to edit the currently active template register.tpl file (not the one in common_files). WNC2: Thanks for the new feature idea, to be honest I'm not 100% sure I follow your scenario exactly. Would you mind sending this message again to our support@thexcartstore.com address and we can continue the discussion there. thanks again guys :) regards Will |

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hi Will,
Is xbanners2 100% backwards compatible? I currently have many banners set up with GEO IP filters etc in xbanners and just want to hear that I can upgrade to xbanner2 without fear of things going wrong  |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hi Davy,
Yes, its 100% backward compatible - you won't loose any details from your older xBanner setup. But you might want to revisit those older banners/campaigns and get them using some of the new features of xBanners2. It's up to you :) regards Will |

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Hi Will. After installing the demo, we were totally bummed that the transitions apparently do not work because our X-Cart installation is behind a Drupal base. We put in a ticket and were told that this is a known issue and there is no fix for it. If you guys ever find a solution, let me know, because I really like the interface and ease of use.

I am still waiting for xBanners2 to work with xMobile / responsive.
I have open tickets for more than a month? Has anyone else figured out how to get xBanners2 working w/ xmb? |

The answer is, unfortunately, not yet. Let me clarify -- xB2 works in fixed size on desktop template. It works (partially) fixed size on xMObile (but without any banner transitions) - but the real benefit of xB2 is to resize banners for xMobile sites based on smartphone screen size - and this is not working yet (and no transitions). I have open tickets w/ TXS and they keep telling me, "next week" -- they have been telling me "next week" for a month now. My temporary fix is to resize my banners for xmobile to fixed size (for iPhone) and live with a less than ideal experience for Samsumg and other customers - and no transitions. I think TXS knew this wasn't working when they shipped, but they didn't share... Disappointed. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Just a question for those who have upgraded from xBanners 1,
Does this remove the query strings from the static resources? This is one of the last speed improvements to make to a site. |

Working as of right now! Ilya fixed 98% of the issues -- and there are workarounds for the other issues. Responsive banners are SO MUCH BETTER especially if you have xMobile -- I don't think "my" files can be shared as I was one of the beta sites... so I suggest reaching out to TXS and asking for the fixes. ANOTHER THING we discovered -- be VERY careful to not have duplicate calls to xbanners2 -- the xb2 installer tries to put calls to xb2 for xmob as well as desktop. That caused some looping. The instructions/files for xb2 upgrade should have clarified this. I have my transitions, responsive banners in mobile, all good now. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
I am posting this in public forum (vs. email to TXS) so that the community can weigh in on this, and tell TXS this is important, or tell me that I am the only guy in the parade in-step...
In my opinion, xBanners2 scheduling is incomplete and missing an important scheduling function. It does work as it was designed, but I believe the design has a big flaw... Merchants don't only display banners for limited hours on odd numbered days. Merchants want to schedule a banner to start at a specific day/time, and then end at a specific day/time. For example, start a banner at 1900 on 28 Nov and display the banner continuously until 0400 on 30 nov. Or start a banner now and display continuously until 2359 on 3 Dec. I can't think of any banner that I would want to display only during limited hours, daily. But in fairness, I'm sure there is someone that can find that useful -- but... Merchants typically want to schedule an event to start a time, and then end a time. xBanners2 is missing this functionality. In comparison, Altered Cart On Sale permits sales to start at an exact date/time and end at an exact date/time. LinkShare affiliate links can be scheduled to the hour (start and stop). AdWords and Bing campaigns can be scheduled to the minute. Campaigns start, run, then end. They don't usually stop on even number days. The point -- many/some/most merchants want to build out campaigns with a future start date/time, run the campaign continuously, then end the campaign. Right? Bonus - permit the campaign to pause or not run during certain hours -- but ultimately, it has a start time and an end time. And the start/end time is not PER DAY -- And only running the campaign on even days or odd days is quite strange --- unless we are in a rationing situation? TXS, please fix xBanners2 -- I did not appreciate having to wait until 3am to change my banners each night this weekend. You guys owe me a few night's sleep. Does everyone agree with me? Share it with TXS. |

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Anyone figure out how to trap for https and force https pages to serve banners https, vs http pages, banners serve from the CDN ?
Since xB2 is making js on-the-fly, it's gotta be in there somewhere. Yes? Anyone solve this? |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
I tried to replace images source URLs to CDN URLs, but all files are encrypted, so no modifications can be done.

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Wondering if anyone has had this same experience...
We created a banner with a single image, and placed this banner on the home page of our store. The xBanner Type is set to Responsive Height, and the Banner Width is set to Auto. The issue arises when the store is viewed on smaller devices. The banner is not responsive and does not scale to size. We have another banner with 3 images. This banner works like a charm. However, if we disable 2 of the images in the banner, leaving one image, the banner is no longer responsive as stated above. Is there an official fix for this? Thanks in advance. |

It's been a long week. :-( THE PROBLEM is that the workaround requires 2 of the same image, doubling the size of the page load. Bad for ecommerce. Everyone reading this thread should open/reopen their tickets on this issue with TXS. Hopefully "next week" is any day now. |

Absolutely. Actually, it looks as though my developer has discovered what he thinks the issue is. Just waiting for him to look through the java code.

Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
Would be nice to have an official fix from TXS. My developer says...
"there is code missing on the single image version that is included in the multiple image version. using x-cart debug mode, i can see all of the xbanner variables, so it might be easier to count the slides using smarty and if there is just one then I can add the necessary code into the templates." Sounds like it should be an easy fix from TXS. Let's hope we can get it soon. |
Re: xBanners2 - The ultimate Banner Manager for x-cart just got even better
I wanted to report that my developer has fixed the issue of a single image banner not being responsive. I was told this fix is site specific, meaning, what worked for our site wouldn't work for others as the settings would have to be identical.
With that being said, xBanners2 is great module. I look forward to seeing this in use on our new site in the next few weeks. |

Hi Will,
I have been trying to get my login credentials reset for the past few days now so I can update my license information. Your "Forgot Password" page not only requires the registered Email address but also a Username. Support Ticket ZUQ-727-18663. Thank You. |
