Newest x-payments and php 5.2

The documentation says it needs PHP 5.3 to run x-payments but I can't upgrade my PHP v just yet so I'm wondering it it will work with 5.2.13, anyone?

I'm stuck in a bad spot, running an old v. of xcart on one website which can't use php 5.3 yet and I am installing a new version for another website which may need php 5.3.

So either I have to completely redo my old site, get another server or host, or just forget the whole thing because its too much work and go with something else.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

Put XP on a php 5.3 server.
X-Cart can run on a different server than XP
IN fact, for security, you are advised to have a dedicated user that is not where xcart is hosted. It can be on the same box, but it needs to be a different user account.

checkout.domain.com

that will solve your issue, yes?

PS -- on some VPS' you can have different versions of php running on different users.

My VPS is with Hands-on and I am pretty certain they offered this to me at one point. That could solve your issue.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

I'll ask my host if they can do this. Yes this would solve the problem and I could actually use 4.5.5 and have all users using the updated PHP and just the one using the older PHP.

But with x-payments , if I setup one user on an IP or even domain name of its own, will the checkout process have that domain (as if the customer left the original site)?

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

In other words, if I setup an x-payments domain called
www.aaaaa.com
and my shopping cart is really at
www.bbbbbb.com

will the checkout redirect to aaaaa.com or is it like a backend system?

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

if you store is:
www.bbbbbb.com

Your x-payments will be
checkout.bbbbbbb.com
or
payment.bbbbbbb.com
or
whatever.bbbbbbb.com

regardless of the physical server it's on.

the xp server will have its own ip, its own SSL cert

it will be a closed environment

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

ok, thanks. My host won't offer multiple PHP versions so that's out. I may go with the xcart xpayment hosting for now until I get my other site upgraded at which time I can update the whole server.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

May I suggest an x-cart specialist host?
Moving servers is not nearly as big a deal as getting it wrong.
If you own an x-payments license you should consider building a hosting environment for it.

Do you mean the $1189 license that is for sale here
http://www.x-cart.com/xpayments-pricing.html

No, I don't have one. And until just now I didn't realize they didn't sell just a one store license , or do they?

You don't have to go with the $1189 license.
If you need just one store solution and do not want to waste time on hosting issues - go with X-Payments for Small Business plan that includes 100% compatible and secure hosting for X-Payments, too. And allows to connect one shop - $49.95/mo for X-Payments and PCI compliant hosting, no need to figure out how to install it as it goes pre-installed, no need to look for hosting as it goes included in the plan.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

Yeah I have 2 stores and I may just go with the xpayments hosting solution or may just forget it altogether. I'm being charged $1000 to have xcart "look" like my current website and now this additonal $50 per month per store for hosting. And then I need to upgrade my other store which I'm guessing its $1000 for a redesign also.

So it's all adding up to the point that I'm wondering is it all worth it.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

1. If you have version 4.1.x, that means you've been using xcart for at least 4 or 5 years. That means you should have a "free" x-payments NFR license - but you need to "install" it somewhere in the next 36 hours! Like right now!!!! It's use it or lose it. Read this:

http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=65370

2. A good x-cart specialist host, such as Hands-on or EWD can solve most of your issues without spending silly $$$$

Store upgrade costs for designers should have nothing to do with fundamental hosting issues.

If you "own" an x-payments NFR license, RUN, don't walk, and find a host with php 5.3 right this minute. Install it. Tell x-cart where it is installed and you save yourself $1189. But you MUST do that right now. Today. That is assuming you've been a long-time x-cart customer.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

Ihave 2 versions of xcart licenses since 2008. And I just checked and it shows 1 x-payments license. Shouldn't I have two there?

or is one good enough for both sites since it can have multiple stores?

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

One license per account.
Many threads about this...
Bottom line:
If you EVER want to use the x-payments license after tomorrow, you MUST install it on a php 5.3 server and tell x-cart where it is -- you don't have to USE it, just install and assign the license, else it's gone forever after tomorrow.
DO this now.

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

To clarify, one xpayments license per xcart purchased? or they give you one xpayments license for one account, even if you bought 20 xcart licenses?

Re: Newest x-payments and php 5.2

per account

Yeah, think I decided to work on something else. This just isn't as easy as it needs to be, it's way over complicated and I have too many other projects. It should come with xpayments, every single copy bundled as one. Not $1200 for a license.

I am really sorry that we can't provide a free X-Payments license for everyone. If we could we would do that. But our ongoing fees on development of this software and supporting its PA-DSS status make us charge our customers. Unfortunately, the PCI council and PA-QSAs do not work for free. Neither our developers. Even powerful communists could make people work for free and USSR collapsed due to economical reasons.

Said that I want to note that we launched special cheap X-Payments Hosted plan named "for Small Business" - see http://www.x-cart.com/xpayments-pricing.html - it comes with PCI compliant hosting space pre-configured to be used with X-Payments along with X-Payments itself (pre-installed).

Also, your free X-Payments license allows connecting up to 10 stores.
