Live Customer Support

not sure if this is posted in the right forum, but i guess a mod will move it if it aint.

Found a brilliant Live Customer Support script which is very easy to intergrate into x-cart called Help Center Live.

Best of all its FREE ! and comes with a optional windows application so you dont need to keep your explorer window open.

the url for the script is: http://www.helpcenterlive.com/

and a demo of it, can be see on my site at http://shop.cglass.co.uk/customer/

This is a great Software.

I used crafty cow and it was easy to install, all I did was linked picture or put the link to help window which pops and and start chatting.

But this one I am not sure, also i tried to install this on server changed livehelpcenter1.0 name to help and installed it but it's not letting me loging in.

carlisleglass 11-25-2003 02:49 AM

i guess you read the INSTALL file which tells you, you have to change some settings in the inc/config.php file

jeeya 11-25-2003 03:14 AM

Great! It worked Perfect and tell you this is a great great great software and I love it!

after logging into control panel, all i did, went to generate code and copy and paste that code in help menu (actually under help menu centering it)
works perfect.

Another option, I will have to read further, I was considering PHPLive for $98 ( http://www.phplivesupport.com ), since I have used it as a prospect on other sites and works very nice.

I use LiveHelp from Crafty Syntax http://www.craftysyntax.com/livehelp/. Free, easy to install, fast, allows customer tracking... it's a really good bit of kit!

Just thought I'd share

I saw weeks ago somebody else was using that also.

My concern is basically about a script being a Server Hog, how is the one you use ? Does it use a lot of server resources or is it soft on the server side ? Has it broke your site in any way (does it interfere with the cart) ?

daveb1 01-09-2004 09:23 AM

Well, I don't own the server so I can't get details on what resources are used, but I can tell you that when the admin page is up, it receives an update packet every 10 seconds which is about 3k in size. It doesn't cause any problems with the cart that I've found.

I'll leave it on for a few hours so if you want to come onto the site and try out the client side, feel free. The site link is in my sig.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks, Ill give it a spin right away.

carlisleglass 01-11-2004 11:00 PM

been running help centre live for about a month now ... i havn't seen the server performance drop in any way

leon 01-12-2004 06:30 AM

Thank you for the input, i went around daveb1 site also to have a look at it, seams Ok. I just had the sensation (also read about it) that server would hog up, now Im going to see which product is more suitable, the priced or free.

miss_beth 01-21-2004 11:13 PM

Thanks for the info. I installed this (help center live) and it seems to work just fine. I'm having trouble figuring out how to customize it . . . mostly because I'm so dang exhausted from moving my enitre site over to my new xcart. :)

Anyway, there are a couple of questions I have and I couldn't find the answers on the help center forum. If anyone that uses this could spare a second, I'd appreciate it.

I know this isn't really the place to post my questions, so if someone has a minute and doesn't mind, please PM me.

I used this software too. I believe it was causing a delay on my x-cart server. I had the database loaded local. Server was a Pent 4.0 3 ghz, with a gig of ram. I believe, after doing some research that the software above was causing some huge server load. I've since upgraded the server to 4 gig but really don't want to risk installing Crafty Syntax software again.
My next solution will be a remote hosted one i believe.

I'm just about to install Crafty Syntax on my x-cart site. where did you place the html code that crafty syntax generates?

Thanks

Re: Live Customer Support

We use phplive on our site BUT I just tend to use it for monitoring these days rather than actual live help.

We found that when we had a button on our site saying click here for help/advice we ended up spending half our day with people who just wanted to chat about mens underwear and then not actually buy anything :(

So it was a cool feature but a bit of a time waster, if anything i'd implement it NOT to have a button but still use it so you can pop up and offer help if it looks like it's needed

Re: Live Customer Support

Interesting. We're going to run with it as part of a trial for a few months. We've got a little bandwidth in terms of having 3 people who can engage in converation at anyone time.

The analytics part is quite useful and it's also exciting to see how many people are on your site and what they are looking at in realtime.

Crafty Syntax allows you to automatically push content to visitors depending on which page they visit. So we're going to push special offers to them.

Does PHPLive allow you to pass difficult questions onto other operators? Quite useful for us.

Re: Live Customer Support

Are you still using PHPLive from PHPLive Software (OSI Codes)?

I purchased both the Live Support Software and the WinApps from them a week ago. The download didn't work and I cannot get in touch with them, their phone is disconnected, no response to emails.

Have you ever had any kind of a problem with them?

Greg

Re: Live Customer Support

I had issues with OSI as well... I ultimately filed for a chargeback, and they didn't dispute it, and I received a full refund from AMEX. The merchant in me cringes when I hear the word, "chargeback" - but you can only email and fax and leave messages for weeks, before you just have to blow them off.

Re: Live Customer Support

FYI -- this email was sent yesterday by OSI:

Quote:

As you might have noticed they havent any further development/support on PhpLive! Support for a while.
Due to personal reasons, I was not able to maintain/update anymore my business and I decided, with a heavy heart, to let it go.
During the last few weeks, I have been contacted by several individuals/businesses interested to acquire it.
So far, only one fits all the requirements and have the necessary budget to maintain/develop further PHPLive!.
We are close to seal the deal.
A public announcement will be made as soon as the business will be transferred to its new owner.

I beg again your patience and understanding for few days.

Thank you for your support and business.

With Regards,

OSI Codes Team
