To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
Hi all.
My question goes out to all of you who have used AlteredCarts one page checkout for X-Cart 4.2 I'm about ready to go live with my first store and I am wondering how important this mod is. I would really like to start the store with 4.3, however the one page checkout isn't available yet. I must admit money is a little tight and I am trying to do away with any unnecessary mods. Would you all consider the one page checkout a must? I'd be willing to get it if everyone thinks it's really that important. |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
I have been using C1 for quite a while now. Balinor developed one but never made it a public mod. :-( Anyway after installing C1 our conversion rate improved dramtically. We went from around a 30% conversion rate to over 50% and the mod basically paid for itself the first month. Yes $169.00 is a big chunk for a small store, especially since the cost is more than X-cart. If you do not install it you should make sure you get Google Analytics installed and see where your customers drop out. If it is consistantly in the cart then you will need to improve the checkout process.
Yes C1 is not available for 4.3 yet. I am currently running 4.1.12 with C1 and I am customizing 4.3 in a beta directory and will upgrade the main site once Bill gets a 4.3 version of C1. To me it is worth the wait even though I want to have all the bells and whistles of 4.3. So basically the most important mod would have to be C1. Mike |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
X-Cart might be relasing a cool new checkout in 4.4 when and if it comes out.

Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
I honestly saw no point in a one page checkout. We tried one about a year or so ago and it actually killed our sales. Plus I haven't seen definitive enough unbiased studies that shows it improves ROI and most of the competitors in our same line of business don't even use one and they do way more money then us.

Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
I can say pretty confidently based on over 25 clients using the one page checkout that it almost always improves your conversion rate. It doesn't always, as Alan proves, but it is well worth the investment IMHO.
And Mike, we didn't release it because I simply don't have the time to support a commercial mod - we just offer it to our clients as part of our custom design service. :) Moving this to Third Party Add-Ons |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
How about releasing it with no support, no warranty, no anything leaving all the responsibility to whoever whats to use it
|
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
Well then I'd lose one of the incentives to hire us for a custom design ;)

That is the problem. You only offer from scratch service, you will not modify existing work. I fully understand that, just disapointed. Mike |

That's true. I knew I couldn't fool you but thought I would ask ;) |

That would be great - I'm all for dumping a load of our third party add ons - more trouble than they are worth most of them! |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
We use OPC from AlteredCart on v4.1, and after a very short time of using the product I would tell you it has had a positive impact on our conversions. We have made several site enhancements so it is hard to say how much of the improvement is directly attributed to OPC. Our average order value is greater than $250 so it does not take a large conversion increase to pay for a $169 upgrade. I will also add that AlteredCart has been very responsive to our questions and requests for support.

It is the third party developers that cause QT to strive for a better cart. Without these folks X-cart would most likely be a shell of itself, or rather bare bones. The only thing that would drive QT to do more with it would be the competition shopping carts out there. You would also have to rely solely on QT for any MODs that you want for your store. The third party folks enable me to make my cart fit my business plan and not the other way around. |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
Hey Balinor,
Can you point me to any live examples of your one page checkout? |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
I know that people have different results with one page checkouts but it really has a lot to do with the layout. I can totally understand why it could be better to stick with a clean two or three step, and keep the sections separate.
On the other hand, a one page check out that is straight forward (and possibly all done above the fold) would also be very enticing. Check out bustedtees.com for an example of a one page checkout that LOOKS quick. |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
Hi Everybody,
We have developed one page checkout which is compatible for 4.1.x, 4.2.x and 4.3.x. More than 20 customers are using. You can see them in live at www.pharmacydirect.co.nz www.epaintstore.com www.uniquetracks.com www.urbanplaza.co.uk Email me at sales@mercuryminds.com to play with the demo. We are pushing hard to publish the screen shots and complete description in a week time. Please note that the module is stable used in the websites for the past 6 months. |
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
It all most doubled our sales. After seeing people drop out during check out, it was a no brainer for us to add. Way worth the money
|
Re: To those who have used X-Carts one page checkout.
Less steps, less chance of a customer getting frustrated and leaving.

1. When a customer is shipping to another address the real time shipping charges work fine until the customer enters a coupon. Once the coupon is entered the shipping charges go back to being based upon the billing address. 2. When an order is placed, your OPC is writing duplicate entries into the Address Book. I start with 1 billing address and 1 shipping address at the beginning of the order and when the order is complete I have 2 extra duplicates of both the billing address and the shipping address. The 3rd issue involved the minicart subtotal not taking into consideration coupon discounts. My fix is below. In File: MM-minicart-items.tpl Original Quote:

I would appreciate an update on when this will be fixed. My request in my ticket has gone unanswered. |
