Rearranging the product order
===============================================
While i'm here let me also ask is there a way to rearrange the order of the products. I have tried editing the SQL database but I end up having to change several fields in the db and reload images. Is their an easier way. Such as the organizing of catagories and option ( simply assigning it a numerical value )? ---------------------------------------------------------------THANKS----------- :? Hi Hyperdelicious, When you go to Modify Products in the admin control panel, change the "Pos." # of the product..that will position them the way you want. |
Rearranging Product order
===============================================
I'm sorry but when under the modify product section the only reference to Pos. is in the Product options... I need to rearrange the products themselves. Any other thoughts or suggestions or perhaps I'm overlooking something. ----------------------------------------------------------THANKS----------------- :? Ok try this... Go to Search Products, choose a category, click search The "Pos." column will be there. Just enter a number for how you want them to be ordered and click update. It works I promise. :wink: |
Not seeing it
===============================================
Sorry, but I am not seeing it. The only fields that are available are: ID, Product, Quantity, Shop price, and Your price. Any other thoughts? -------------------------------------------------------------------THANKS-------- :? Hi Hyperdelicious
Have you amended the template that displays the stock listing in the shop admin centre, because it should show the POS column before the QUANTITY when you search a product? I believe this is in the product.tpl file funkydunk |
Still no luck

Sorry I couldn't help on this - have you tried the technical support team? - They are excellent.

Wanted to try the forum... before bothering the X-Team... guess I'll give them a try next... ---------------------------------------------THANKS ANYWAY------------------ :( Hyperdelicious =============================================== =============================================== |
Hyperdelicious,
What version of X-Cart are you using? I believe the position function was not available prior to version 3.1.2. In version 3.1.2 you should be able to do the following: 1. Login to the admin section of your script 2. From within the admin, on the left hand menu, within the "Products" section, choose "Search Products". 3. On the "Search Products" screen simply make your category selections and click the "search" button. This will bring up all your products. 4. You will be presented with a list of all the products within the selected category. 5. The fields will be as follows: ID, Product, Pos., Quantity, Shop Price, Your Price. 6. The field that controls product position is Pos. 7. Order your products as 1, 2, 3, etc., in the order in which you want them to appear. Hope that helps, ATKOgirl |
X-cart vs. 3.1.3
===============================================
Thanks for the help... but the POS column is not there... I am using Version 3.1.3... Here's what I have done: 1. Login-ed as admin (master), hit 'Search Products', selected a catagory, hit search, No POS column displayed. 2. Went under 'Modify Product', selected a catagory, hit search, no POS 3. Tried 'List All'... No POS. 4. Entered the Modify Item, and no reference to POS 5. Looked inside the modules to make sure that feature was not un- intentionally turned off, no luck. 6. Looked in config.php to make sure it was a variable that was un- intentionally turned off, no luck. 7. Right now I'm trying to locate the *.tpl to add a POS column to and am not having much luck (the debugger only works in certain areas of the cart, unfortunately not the area I need in this situation.) Anyway... any other ideas or solutions are welcomed. ------------------------------------------------------------THANKS MUCH------- :? Looks like one for tech support though if you want me to look at it please pm it to me.
ps dont forget to change the users to get rid of the standard user/password combinations and increase the security. |
Thanks for the offer
===============================================
Thanks for the offer funkydunk... but I'd like to fix this on my own... that way I know what to do in the future... I'll speak with tech support regarding the issue... and see what they advise. ----------------------------------------THANKS FOR TRYING TO HELP--------- :( Hyperdelicious =============================================== =============================================== |
Hi,
You're version is the problem. Please forgive my momentary bout of dyslexia, my version is 3.2.1, which is the most current, and the one that includes position, not version 3.1.2. Versions prior to 3.2.1 do not include the positioning function. ATKOgirl |
Damn
===============================================
Drats! Do you think this is something I can fix myself... Or shall I pay the X-team to customize it for me? ----------------------------------------------------THANKS----------------------- :cry: Hyperdelicious =============================================== =============================================== |
