BCSE Reward Points Not Working
Hi All.
I've installed BCSEngineering's Customer Reward Points according to the instructions, and checked and rechecked the mods, but nothing is appearing in either the Admin screens or in the Customer screens. What have I done wrong or what's missing? Thanks, Steve. |

You should really contact Bcsengineering.com directly through their support desk, the customer reward points is one of those tricky mods that has to be done 100% correct. It would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack to determine what you've done wrong or what the issue is.

Or it could be simply X-cart being stubborn and not refreshing your template cache for you. :) Some tricks to force that is to:
1. Log in to your X-cart admin 2. Click on webmaster mode link. 3. Turn it on 4. Turn webmaster mode back off. 5. Go to the summary link. 6. Click on tools. 7. Scroll down and clear the templates Cache. That will force new language variables to be recognized. We're finding the recent versions of X-cart need this sometimes to refresh new language variables that are patched in using an SQL patch. I've just compared the 4.1 zip file, which I was originally sent in error, to the 4.2 zip file which you sent to me last week. They are very different. Doesn't look like a minor upgrade. I wonder if either WebsiteCM or BCSEngineering have sent me the wrong file(s).
Secondly, when unzipping the 4.2 zip file, I received an error: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v498/skt852/CRP-Problem-1.jpg On checking the zip file, I found two func.php files in the modules/BCSE_Reward_Points directory One is 21,202 bytes, the other is 8,993 bytes. I think there's something wrong with your distribution. I've also updated the support ticket. Thanks, Steve. |

I've now found at least one spelling error in your code:
function bcse_get_cart_points_requried(&$cart) Hopefully, you've spelling it incorrectly in every occurance? Also, I note that not one of your files contains any version information. Steve. |

IF you installed the 4.1 version -- before you do ANYTHING -- remove it. Follow the installation instructions in reverse. If your store is not yet live, revert your database to a backup. DO NOT try to fix this one file at a time. UNINSTALL the 4.1 version and start over. |

Thanks. I did that.
I was originally sent a version for 4.1 but didn't get very far with the install until I discovered I had the wrong version. I then undid the few manual edits and manually removed all of the uploaded files. I compared the patch files between the 4.1 version and the 4.2 version and they are identical. Unless I've been sent a wrong one. I then followed the 4.2 installation instructions, which I've since rechecked twice. But still not working. Steve. |

If your version for 4.2 is identical to 4.1 (including template files) then you probably have the wrong version. I would hope the 4.2 version was table-less. I would send a ticket to BCSE.

No, only the database patch files were identical.

I think that I've solved this problem.
I opened the database in phpMyAdmin, dropped the three tables, then applied the 4.2 patch again. Also, X-Cart doesn't seem to like the commented-out header info in the patch file. I had to delete those lines before it would patch ok. Seems to be working, fingers crossed. Steve. |

Seems that the Customer Points on the product page only display for new items, not for existing items. I hope that I don't have to create all of my products again.
And the Customer Points are jammed up against the Price. How can I add space and a different font? Steve. |

Looks like Gary has been helping you. He was out yesterday to take his wife to the doctors (she's the one been having a ton of serious illnesses) and is out atleast for this morning for his son's visit to the doctor. He expects to be in later today though when they get back from the doctors (1.5 hour trip away).

This add-on is still not displaying Customer Reward Points in the product page, the cart page or the checkout page. Reward Points now only display on the final Place Order page.
I modified product_points.tpl to force the display of points on the product page and then all products are showing zero points on the product page. This is not a template problem; the product_points function returns zero points. There are rumours in these forums about this add-on being very difficult to install and get working. The installation is actually very easy; patch the database, upload some files, then edit a few files; no more difficult than any other add-on that I've bought and installed. But I think that there are faults with this add-on that give rise to this rumour that it's difficult to install. And the core files are encrypted so we have to rely on the programmer. I paid for this sofware over a month ago; had the wrong software delivered once and corrupted distribution files delivered twice. Now it's still not working. Also, this add-on does not allow a customer to use reward points to pay for products that do not have global discounts. I have some products that have to be sold at retail price so I can't discount the price, but customers should still be able to use reward points. Why is the Customer Reward Points tied to the X-Cart global discount option? The two are not related. Now BCSE want me to pay more money to fix this design error. And I've had no response from BCSE in over a week. Less than happy customer, Steve. |

It isn't a design flaw. It is how it has worked since 2004 and was requested by many customers. I will discuss it with Henry to see if he thinks if it makes sense to change that feature at no charge. I originally pondered it, however it would cause an issue with back portability. We might be able to easily make that feature turned on/off though. That may be the best solution to your needs and backwards compatibility. Keep in mind that many many hundreds, if not thousands use this software. It's just not something we've had requests for and why I determined it would be custom originally. Having it display the info on the pages should not be an issue at all. I will have our programmer that took over this program several years ago look into it this week. He's been out on a much needed vacation this week. I also see that we have replied to you recently. Not sure what you mean by it's been a week? It has been a few days and I apologize. I will ask Gary why as it's in his area. I do know that we have had 2-3 people out this week, some expected, some unexpected so we are a few days behind. Gary and my self have tried to take up for the low staff but it does look like we were not able to respond to yours in a few days. Thank you, Carrie |

We're finding out there's a conflict with the new CDSEO and our reward points. As soon as we get this solidified with a solution anyone needing a fix, please email us.
