best sellers not showing on some cats
 

Hi there,
Can anyone answer why bestsellers would be showing on some categories but not others for example

if you goto http://www.hom.gb.com/shop/ and click on any of the categories (apart from 3001) there will be a best seller list in the left hand coloum, but if you click on 3001 then there is no best seller list (allthough there have a huge amount of purchases from this category)

using x-cart v 3.3.3

The best sellers mod uses an SQL query that selects which category your currently viewing, so if no sales have been made on any particular category, best sellers will not be shown.

I beleive theres some code lying around here that you can use to force it.

I thought that but the category that isn't showing the best sellers list has been the most active for the past month.

As far as I'm aware theres no bug reported for this, up 3.3.8 in the CHANGELOG, has any parts of your module code for best sellers been modified?

not that i'm aware, it's just bizzare that it works for the rest just for newly created categories.

I don't know how it worked but I just contacted xcart support since my list wasn't showing in catagories and didn't change for 2 mont on frontpage. If they fix that or Boomer's Product Sort Mod changed that.

But it is basically best viewed list which shows in all catagory and it works great and shows results instantly.

Boomer what code are you referring too. I have no best sellers list at all.
Everything is checked in the admin section. The only mod I've added is star27's menu mod.

Do you have best sellers enabled under Modules in the admin?

Does it take a certain amount of time for the BS list to show up ?
I have reinstalled x-cart due to stupidty :oops: but previously it had not shown up either.

My understanding of the BS list is that it's more of a most clicked list which I've done plenty of

I have the same problem. I have the best sellers list module checked but it won't show up. I am running two different X-Cart installations on two servers where one of them is just a "dummy site" where I can experiment making changes without doing too much damage.

The other is the intended live site which I'm still working on. Here's the site:

Don't know if this helps but I just noticed that one of my products dropped off the best seller list when it's stock level reached 0....

Actually, that might help because all my product's qty listing is "0" and I've disabled inventory tracking. I'll try updating the qty to more than 0 and see how it goes. For some strange reason though I get emails saying that the quantity has decreased by one everytime I place a test order. but I thought I turned off inventory tracking??

Dogbyteman, you're the man! That seemed to fix up the problem...it was just a qty error. Thank you very much!
