Change skin not working?
 

I have installed 4.2 and can not change from the default skin.
I rename the install php file back to php.
Run it from my browser but only get the option of new install.
Where should i place any other skins which come with it ??

Can anyone help.
From the demo it is so easy to select new skins, now it seems impossible !!

4.2.0 is shipped with only one skin.
You can download extra skins from the demo for free, rename the original skin1 folder to something else and unpack downloaded skin to skin1 (There is no built-in skin switcher also in fresh install).

Ok So I'm having the same problem. The 4.2 Manual says to just upload the files and I did that and got an error.

When you read the README File for the skin it says to run the install.php, which is only allowing me to reinstall a new version.

1. download package from filearea in customers panel https://secure.qualiteam.biz
2. backup you current skin folder
3. Extract downloaded skin to skin1
4. execute YourStoreUrl/cleanup.php

I get the following error

Did you clean compiled templates folder (step 4 in the list above)?

Yes I did.

Even when I backed up my Skin1 folder, uploading the backup back didn't fix it.

I ended up copying the skin1_original and renaming it and then putting back my modded files.

Still way confused about the skins.

I also read somewhere that I need to CHMOD 777 the skin directory and subfiles/folders after the upload. That didn't work either.

you can try to clear templates cache manually via ftp
(remove all files in yourStoreDir/var/templates_c folder )
attach your skin1/customer/meta.tpl if it won't solve your problem

Ok same errors. I didn't CHMOD anything this time.

I uploaded the files, then ran Cleanup.php


Here's the error again:

There is no line 154 in attached file... I still suppose it is cache
Did you try to remove all files in yourStoreDir/var/templates_c folder?

Yeah I realized that...hmm...I will upload, cleanup, and then remove the cache.

I removed it first last time.

Ok same result, I'm going to try a different skin and see if I get the same results.

So I tried the Vivid Dream Lotus and got the following error.

Ok so Tech Support told me to use the install.php method agian, except the 'Re-install skin files' option is not there.


I tried the manual method again and I still get the same errors, even after uploading the files to scheme and the CHMOD 777.

So frustrating.

How can I upload a new skin for testing purposes? I don't want users to have access to it yet, I just want it for myself. Anyone done this?

I have no idea, but I figured out what my problem was....


I hadn't upload the skins to the "templates" directory.
