Smarty Errors Line 1092

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "customer/home.tpl" in /home/hotsauce/public_html/include/lib/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1092

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "single/home.tpl" in /home/hotsauce/public_html/include/lib/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1092

I just did a fresh install for my cart, including a new database. I overwrote all of the old files and deleted the old database.

I then decided to reinstall to get rid of the error. Still not working.

I checked the permissions and I checked to see if it was there. Still getting the error.#-o

Help?!

Oh and the errors happen on /admin and /index.php and /home.php

So basically I can't view anything without seeing this Smarty error.

It means that the templates customer/home.tpl and single/home.tpl are either unreadable, corrupted or missing

Moving to template editing as this is not a bug.

I had reinstalled the entire thing 5 times with the same error. I personally uploaded those files again and again. I even downloaded 4.2 3 times just to be sure. I downloaded it again today only to get the same error.

I just ended up having my host fix the problem. Something about some line of code. *shrugs* I'm about done with X-Cart anyways. Only this client seems to want to use X-Cart.

Be sure you are unpacking the files using winrar, not winzip. Winzip will corrupt the files. Also make sure you are uploading them with 'automatic' settings via FTP - using the wrong upload method can corrupt them as well.

I'm getting a similar issue just after an upgrade.

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "admin/javascript_check.tpl" in /home/psduser/public_html/Smarty-2.6.19/Smarty.class.php on line 1092

Now when I got and look for admin/javascript_check.tpl I can't find it in the Skin1 dir? Is it in another location?

What version did you upgrade to?

Perhaps the error is only with people who upgraded from 4.1.12?

Well sort of. I didn't really upgrade. I simply transferred all my products and such through MySQL to 4.2

Because when I tried to upgrade I got tons of errors. Not just smarty lol.

Re: Smarty Errors Line 1092

4.1.12 and 4.2 are not compatible - you would have needed to run a database upgrade first to transfer your data over. That would certainly account for some of the problems it sounds like you are having.

Re: Smarty Errors Line 1092

Well I had updated the databases. I'm not an expert but I'm not new to MySQL databases either.

And even if I did a simple export and then ran the query into the new database I'd have gotten multiple errors and nothing would've been added.

So of course I had to update the database.

Well, you didn't mention that :)

So any reason why going from 4.1.9 to 4.1.12 would cause this?

No, other than the person quoted above did pretty much everything wrong.

We have upgraded several clients through the same path without issue whatsoever.

And as I stated later.

"Well I had updated the databases. I'm not an expert but I'm not new to MySQL databases either.

My problem probably was I had a few modifications that I didn't think to work around before I did anything. I only ever get problems with x-cart. I guess I'm just not that familiar with everything. I still feel a lack of organization with the files. I can upgrade/patch/modify VB, Oscommerce, most blogging scripts, and numerous other php/MySQL with no problem (well at least 90% of the time. There are those odd moments I didn't apply something before I did something else).

Anyways for some reason my client decided they preferred the previous version. I have no idea why. I guess they just prefer sticking with something they're familiar with? I'm going to wait a bit again before I retry the upgrade to the latest version.

Thanks for the comments.

Again, I don't think we are talking about the same thing - but if you are going back to the old version I guess it is moot.
