Good news. Will you have a third party verification of any kind (ROC from a QSA) or is this just going to be a claim by Qualiteam of PA-DSS compliance? If no third party verification do you plan to get third party verification and if so when?

Very good news. do you have a time scale for this. Can you confirm if the fashion skin from 4.1 will be css implemented

Is the upgrade recommendation going to be remain with 4.1/4.2 unless necessary?

Hi, just read that proxypay will not be supported any more.

What is the reason for that if I may ask?

I urge you to reconsider

4.3 won't be verified by third parties. We plan to get X-Cart 5 certified by a PA-QSA.

4.3 is planned to be released this spring. It will include a css-based skin similar to Fashion Mosaic.

Upgrade your live stores only if you need new features of 4.2/4.3. New stores we recommend to start with the most recent X-Cart version.

The reasons are as follows:
- a few of X-Cart users use ProxyPay
- we contacted them in order to get the most recent integration documentation but have never received a reply

Certification is an absolute requirement for merchants to be PCI-DSS compliant so that means there is no point in migrating to 4.3 for PA-DSS compliance. Since X-Cart 5 is going to be on a whole new platform that means it is guaranteed to take a fairly long time to get stable. That is going to really squeeze the timeline. I don't want to be scrambling this time next year to implement a still buggy X-Cart 5 to meet the compliance deadline. You should really get a QSA involved for 4.3 to have a stable certified PA-DSS compliant system available this year well ahead of the holiday season so we can get migrated well ahead of our deadline for compliance and have the option to stay with a stable release.

Hi,

How about PayPal Pro for Canada! I can't understand why it's not in the current release of X-Cart already.

Thank-you

Well, I have to say that first of all, the proxypay module works fine for us as it is. If you choose to not support it anymore, I guess your software will not meet our business needs anymore, since our bank uses proxypay.

Secondly, I guess you do not provide many x-cart installations in Greece since you say that few people use it. From my knowledge there are 5 major banks and and also a couple of others that provide online credit card processing in Greece. Here is a list:

EFG Eurobank Ergasias : Proxypay (1st class bank)
Emporiki Bank: Proxypay (1st class bank)
Egnatia Marfin: Proxypay (1st class bank)

Also:
Alpha Bank :Deltapay (1st class bank)
It seems that you also do plan to not support Deltapay, which rules out also Alpha Bank which is the only bank offering online payment through American Express cards.

The choice is yours, but I will once again urge you to reconsider.

Re: Features planned for X-Cart v4.3

Also, If you need it I can send to you the integration guide (PDF) that our bank gave us when setting up the merchant account with proxypay.

Give me an e-mail address and I will forward you the guide and implementation examples (both redirect and also API).

Will it offer template support for previous versions, AKA, 4.2?

As far as I know it uses the same most recent version of Website Payments Pro API that we are going to integrate 4.3 with. I will let you know as soon as our developers confirm it (they are reviewing the APIs).

Changes in the Light&Lucid templates will be minimal. However, I guess you won't be able to just copy files from 4.2 to 4.3 and get them work without modifying them.

It would be great if you make them contact us by email: alliance@qualiteam.biz

I really do not understand why you would release a 4.2,then 4.3 in a month or so, only to replace them both with 5.0 with in a few months.

Why not just release 5.0 and support that version.

You can have a 4.3 store generating sales in a few months. Or you can have a 5.0 store in almost a year. If you were creating a new online store, what would you choose?

4.17

:-)

v5 I am looking forward to... all these 4.2/4.3 releases I am ignoring.

Re: Features planned for X-Cart v4.3

Now you are killing me. My new in devlopement store was started in 4.10. I then belw that away to start a fresh in 4.2 as there is not upgrade path from 4.1x only to hear now that 4.3 is just around the corner.

Will there be an upgrade path from 4.2 to 4.3 to 5? or are they so different that they need to be new builds..

Re: Features planned for X-Cart v4.3

I too have to argue in favor of ProxyPay3, as it is the payment method used by major banks in Greece and I guess worldwide. Most of the X-Cart users in Greece use that payment method for credit card processing.

Also, in order to get the approval from bank in order to be allowed to use their proxypay3 payment gateway, needs a lot of formal paperwork. That adds more points to the seriousness of the method from banks perspective, and the quality of the merchandisers using it.

The by default ability of X-Cart to support online payments using ProxyPay3 is one of the major advantages for the Greek market. Please also note that all other competitive e-commerce applications do support it.

Having said these, I hope that you will make the right decision.

P.S.
I guess that the reason for not receiving an answer from ProxyPay3 (I do not know if you contacted a Greek bank or ProxyPay3 directly), is that they have a strict policy on revealing the technical details. They gave it to us from the Eurobank bank, only after signing with them as an online POS (Position Of Sale) user.

Why aren't you supporting "Cyberpac By La Caixa"?

This payment method is the reason why many Spanish customers buy X-cart.

We need to know what versions will upgrade to what other versions and the likely release of versions. All this lack of information is causing us to delay any start on any version. Please make things clear!

4.1->4.2: a database upgrade script
4.2->4.3: a database upgrade script (+ upgrade patches provided changes in the source code between 4.2 and 4.3 are minimal)
4.1, 4.2, 4.3 -> 5.0: a database upgrade script

4.3 is planned to be released this spring.

5.0 is planned to be released by the end of 2009.

The main reason is the same as for ProxyPay: CyberPac gateway is being used by a very limited number of X-Cart users whilst makeing it up to date takes too much time.

If a third-party company develop an integration module, keep it up to date and distribute it among X-Cart users, we would be happy to list it under "3-rd party payment modules for X-Cart" section at http://www.x-cart.com/xcart_payment_gateways.html

A 4.0 to 5.0 database upgrade script is also essential. I have a LOT of 4.0 clients who will need to upgrade to V5
