changing txt_welcome

What will changing txt_welcome do?
I was reading here http://www.websitecm.com/x-cart-tutorials/x-cart-seo/ to change the txt_welcome
right now it looks like default

<P align="justify">This is a demo store powered by the X-Cart and based on PHP4 template technology and integrated with a SQL database. It is a fully functional store, as a buyer you can browse products, put products into your cart and check out. As an administrator you can add categories, products and change the look and feel of your store. If you have any questions please contact us.</P>
<P align="justify"><B>This service is for demo purposes only.</B> No real products. No real prices. No real charges. Please do not submit real credit card information.</P>

should I change it to something more relevant for a search engine?

Re: changing txt_welcome

Of course you should change it to match your store. why would you want the default x-cart text on your home page?

Re: changing txt_welcome

Or if you don't know where that file is:
go to Languages under Administration area
choose English (if your store is english)
change "select topic" to Labels
and type in "welcome" in the Apply Filter
press "go" button
scroll down until you see the label "txt_welcome"
and change it in the text box.

I'm having the same issue is over and over again... (in 4.2 also)

Re: changing txt_welcome

try to refresh a couple of times before you exit webmaster mode.

Re: changing txt_welcome

I tried the refresh idea and still doesnt work

i have tried it in about 5 different browsers well 4 browsers and also tried it in ie 5 so that makes 5 hehe.

however in ie i get an error message which prevents the page from opening up the popup that allows you to change the text.

In all the other browsers i can open up the popup and click save however after clicking exit webmaster mode it goes back to the default setting.

I have tested in ie 5, ie 7, firefox 3, netscape 6, safari 3.2. i would try firefox 2 but i can't find it anywhere to download it.

is there a way of doing it manualy? i'm fairly up to speed on php and html, i can read it just not write it.

Did you apply this patch? There is an issue with 4.2 and saving templates from within x-cart. It may also affect what you are trying to do.
