Thank you :-) |

Re: Anyone Recommend a good xml sitemap feed for google/msn/yahoo
I went ahead and purchased the Feed Manager which includes all the feeds and the Sitemap Generator. If you plan on using Shopping Comparison sites, it is well worth the small investment. If you only want the sitemaps, then check the forum, there was a really good site for generating those on a post by Balinor which I used before. But if you really need google base, rss or anything else along these lines, the Feed Manager will be a great savings.
Here is the Advanced SiteMap http://www.firetanksoftware.com/fts/customer/product.php?productid=70 and the Feed Manager:http://www.firetanksoftware.com/fts/customer/Feed-Manager-Pro-Bundle-all-Feeds-pid-137.html Actually I purchased mine through http://www.BCSEngineering.com as I had them install it for me and they are very nice to work with. You can get it from either site. Please note, I am just a happy customer and not affiliated with either. |

HI Acquamarina, thanks for that. Yes I dont need all the feeds, Im just interested in Yahoo / Google & MSN (and any other search engines that contribute to the full set)

THanks savajr,
that looks like it'll do the job. I didnt see anything at Firetank that said it did Google. THis one covers the top three and looks like its an easy install so even better. Thank you once again |

Re: Anyone Recommend a good xml sitemap feed for google/msn/yahoo
Sorry I posted my previous comment on the wrong thread. We put this Google site map on our website. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ There is a free version if your website is small but we had to upgrade to the paid version which was still cheap. Google and Google Webmaster Tools liked it.
Let me issue a word of warning though and I had to learn this the hard way. As soon as Google's bot visits your website to read that sitemap you have placed your website under a microscope with Google. Unknown to me I had a website designer who was unfamiliar with PHP. I had duplicate content out on Google. One set of products in HTML and a second set in PHP. When I submitted that sitemap and Google declined it they also very silently hit us with a duplicate content violation. All our products sank off the face of Google never to be found again by buyers. We were never contacted that we were hit with a duplicate content violation but it was never a question. Being inexperienced we just knew something was wrong. Having someone experienced look over the website and find the error wasn't hard. BCS Enginneering's programs fixed everything quickly once we knew we had a problem. So before you submit your website to Google with a sitemap take the time to look over your website for any errors. It was an expensive and painful lesson. |

Re: Anyone Recommend a good xml sitemap feed for google/msn/yahoo
Hi sandyscloset, I have just used that application myself because my domain has more than just x-cart on it. I have tried to hide duplicate stuff but am still showing a lot more pages than I have.
thank you for reminding and warning me of the perils of this. I have always assumed that any x-cart site map mod will actually not cover anything else under that domain. Perhaps I should get that clarified. Thanks |
Re: Anyone Recommend a good xml sitemap feed for google/msn/yahoo
So if you want to have a sitemap submitted, is it as simple as removing your product catalog so that google only searches one set of products?

Re: Anyone Recommend a good xml sitemap feed for google/msn/yahoo
Actually, if you use the html catalog you should block the dynamic pages. I opted for a SEO url re-write mod instead. You can block php files through your robot.txt. If you search the forums there is some very good advice on how to accomplish this.
