Variant Chart has been released to fill the needs of many shop owners that dislike having their variants limited to a dropdown list.

The Variant Chart lets you escape from the dropdown list limitation, by listing each variant on it's own row, and displaying to the user all information relating to that variant.
Additionally, users are now able to make multiple purchases of multiple variants without having to constantly revisit the product page, resulting in more sales!

The Variant Chart mod does not require any customization or tweaking. Once installed, it's ready for use! You simple have to enable the Variant Chart module, and your variants will automatically be displayed in the variant-per-row format, along with Options (per variant), variant image, variant sku, variant weight, variant qty, etc.

Looks good Jon, you really took it to the next level and I'm sure this will be a great addition for many stores. Couple of questions:

1. Does it automatically disable/remove variants that are out of stock?
2. Will it show wholesale (bulk) discounts?

Thanks Padraic. It currently does not remove variants, but it does disable them (greys them out).

I'll have to double-check on wholesale discounts. Send me an IM, I'll hook you up with the code and maybe you can make some suggestions for refining the module further.

Hi Jon,

I like the sounds of this mod - I think it will come in very handy.

One thing though, are you able to keep an inventory of variant stock and adjust each product variant stock level accordinly?

X-Cart variants already supports inventory management, and the available inventory is reflected on the product page per-variant.

X-cart can not adjust each variant independantly. It only adjust the overall stock per product.
10 of Product A = 3x small, 3x medium, 4x large

So far, X-cart can only account for stock level of Product A total, not each independant and separate inventory for each varient small, med, large.

I'm thinking that you might be using Options currently, instead of Variants, as Variants support stock levels per variant.

This is a great mod - we are currently working through our site converting it to use variants but this section has just been completed.

We are re photographing every item as we go also which could take some time as we are planning to show every colour variant and combination we can produce.

That +/- feature is a custom addition added by carlisleglass. I'm hoping to add something similar to the Variant Chart module, as it is a nice feature to have.

Have now purchase and added this to our site - Jon was VERY helpful as we had cartlabs tabs installed and a few other mods to files which caused a couple of problems with the patch file install - but within an hour I had a full set of manually patched files back from Jon.

Not only is this an absolute MUST HAVE mod for anyone that has drop down boxes for variants on products - this is a very well integrated mod.

You can choose which products use the new tables, and which use the original drop down menu, very easy to edit the template to display in your own manner.

I put this is my top 4 favourite mods along with Marketing Manager Pro by Firetank, Product Picking by BCSE - and OnSale !!

Well worth the $95 !!!!!

Buy it - it does exactly what it says it will !

Spent the week photographing product for this section and now have it loaded into the variant mod. Have to say its great and we are already receiving great feedback from our customers.

awesome, ive been looking for this soooo long...
questions:

1. If i only have one product option (eg. size) will it display each variant in a row?

and so on...

2. many of us dont wanna let the customers know how many units we have in stock, is it possible just to show something like "in stock" or "out in stock" besides each variant?

3. im using the "ultimate minicart" mod, do you have idea if this will work along with it? a far as i remember, it only touches the "add to cart" button code in the product page, to replace it with another code.

Hi typologist, if your product only has options, no variants, you'll need to convert an option into a variant for this to work.

If you have 2 option groups, and you convert the 1st into a variant, then the variant will display, 1 per row, and the remaining option group will show as a dropdown per variant row.


I can customize the Quantity column for you, that's no problem.

Regarding ultimate minicart mod, I haven't worked to make the two modules compatible yet. While there shouldn't be a problem changing the add-to-cart button as needed, I believe the ultimate minicart then has to refresh the product's options, which I haven't tested with the Variant Chart module yet.

We have this mod and it works great. Here's a couple of features I'd like to see added in a future version:

- Ability to show different list prices per variant
- Ability to have extra fields per variant (for instance we have a manufacturer's model number extra field that prints on a packing list for order fillers to use. It would be great to able to put the appropriate number per variant.

@Robin, hiding of exceptions will be available in the next release

@Wayne, I'm glad you like the module. Can you better explain list prices per variant?
Regarding extra fields per variant, I've developed that feature already as a separate module, I'll discount the module for users that already own or purchase Variant Chart when they purchase the Extra Fields module.

Jon, here's an example of what I mean. I have a book that is available in paperback, hardback and spiral. All three formats have a different MSRP (list price). I discount all three formats. I'd like the customer to be able to see the three MSRPs and my discount price for each variant. At the moment, I can only show one MSRP.

I am interested in the Extra Fields module and will email you about that.

For some reason on the images in the module it is showing the full size image and when you hover over it, shows the thumbnail.

Is it possible to configure the Variant Chart module so that customers don't have to enter quantity amounts. In other words the quantity is always just set to 1.

They would just use the add to cart button of whichever row they wanted to put their choice in the cart.

Hi there,

I recently purchased this module for a client; www.americanmotto.com/shop

The client sells apparel and this seems like a great fit, however I had to turn it off due to the listing of too many varients.

For example:
Shirt X
Available in Blue, Green, Red and Brown
Available in sizes: S, M, L and XL

Since these are all varients (for inventory purposes) we're having the issue that it creates 16 products in the charts.

Is there a way to it can be listed by color and then the size could be in a drop down box while still retaining the inventory function?

HELP!

Now I know why we are no longer receiving orders...here is the error message customers are getting when trying to checkout!

The encoded file /home/mgwashburn/wwwroot/naturalbathandbodyshop.com/modules/PHPSS_Variant_Chart/init.php is not permissioned for 24.xx.xx.xx

(my ip address)

It looks like because I am using a shared server that uses a different domain for the secure HTTPS connection that the copy protection from the Variants Chart is kicking in!

Update...was sent new files with updated copy protection...now working. Except from three minor bugs. It seems that the Variant Chart mod and the Ultimate mini-cart mod have some out of the box incompatibilities. Will address those in a separate post.

We've rebuilt this module for a client who couldn't get an answer from Jon. We're planning to release this with a very high discount to existing clients. We don't want to step on Jons toes but we are seeing a requirement from our clients and need to respond.

We ask - if you have suggestions for improvement to this mod please post them. We will then publish as an update that is offered at a very reasonable cost to existing customers, the benefit being that you would then receive our support and lifetime license guarantee.
