webmaster mode woes
 

Any insight into the following:
I start webmaster mode - open a customer window - select the window to edit - select the wysiwig editing mode - make changes to the storefront page - save the changes - close out of webmaster mode - and the changes are not taking.

I can not make any revisions to the storefront - and, I am at a loss.

I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser - does this have anything to do with it?

I usually have to do my edits then refresh the page to make sure the changes take place. Then close webmaster mode. Try it.

Ashley - Thanks for that tip. I tried refreshing the page after saving the changes and the changes disappeared. Did this happen to you as well? Do you know why the saved changes would disappear after refreshing the page?

did you refresh before or after closing webmaster mode? I always have to refresh with webmaster mode still open.

Yeap - I refreshed with webmaster mode open - no luck. Any other ideas?

I had strange errors with my web master mode as well, it was actually causing visual modifications to my site everytime i opened web master mode.

I was able to solve this problem by upgrading my smarty files.

check the name of your smart folder , if it is below 2.6.18, then download the latest version of smarty , upload it , and change reference in smarty.php and run cleanup.php after. see if this helps.

Thanks for that tip - where do I find my smart folder?Where do I download the new version? How / where do I upload the new version? How / where do I run cleanup.php?

Can you tell I am new to this?

I am having the same problems. The changes I try and make to the storefront will not save. They show up in the preview, as well as when I hit the "save" button. Only when I exit and return, the changes have not taken place.

This is quite discouraging.

Sorry about that. I will update ASAP. I hope to learn a lot here. This is a fantastic program you have.
I tried editing again, and this time it worked. I don't understand why this is intermittent. What could I be doing wrong?

it wouldnt work and not work. maybe you didnt click the right save / update button

I switched back to the Explorer browser and had better luck using webmaster mode. For whatever reason, my older laptop did not like using the webmaster mode with the Mozilla browser. BUT, back on my new laptop w/ Vista OS - I have no trouble using the webmaster mode in conjunction with the Mozilla browser. I have dealt with this issue for a couple years - and still no rhyme or reason - good luck.
